Im going to talk to MCI today about starting their RN program. I been a LPN for about 1 and a half years so part of me is excited and the other part is anxious. Anybody else felt this way when they started school?

Thank you so much! Also, how many weeks are the prereq classes?

I am starting tuesday in the rn day program and I was wondering if anybody knows where I should go to have the physical and shots done. I currently have no insurance and will be paying out of pocket. I was thinking about calling around to the different urgent care centers....but if anybody knows of anywhere I can have it all completed for pretty cheap that would be great!!!!

The prereqs are 5 weeks. :)

As for the physical, check out Patient First. I don't know the costs, but I know that they used to run these labs (I had them done there when I worked at a dental clinic).

Are you at VB days?? I am and started today!

Thank you soo much!! I will be sure to check it out. I am at VB days!! We must be in the same class. I am Jean.

We sat next to each other today! I'm Missi!

Thanks for all the information! Sorry to bug you but I didnt really have a good understanding of what I was getting myself into! lol I met with my rep last week. I start my pre-reqs next month!! woowhoo!!:w00t:I just have 1 more questions and I wont bug you anymore!!! lol I have an interview with the Director of Admissions on Monday! What can I expect during this meeting. What types of questions will he ask! I just want to make sure I am prepared!! Thanks again!

That's great! She'll probably ask you about why you want to be a nurse, why should they choose you, why you chose MCI over the other programs, and what your support is like at home. Do you have kids? What will happen if they get sick? Are you parents/spouse supporting you to go to school? What would your classmates say about you? What would your teachers say about you? What would keep you from finishing school? Have you talked to financial aid?

Those are all the types of questions I think were asked!

Good luck!!

Thanks! You are so great!!!!! My rep told me I should have no problem getting in as long as I do well in my pre-reqs!! woowhoo Im so excited!

Thanks!

I know that when I was going through the application process this was all information that I was trying so hard to find online so I'm happy to provide it for others that are trying to find the answers, too!

ya'll need to really think about going to MCI before you do it. The RN program is only 15 months, but for those 15 months you better not get sick, have sick kids, or have nay type of emergency. They have a 20% absesnce rule... you miss over 20%, you fail. For most classes 20% is 1 class day, and part of 1 more.

It really expensive. You teach yourself. Its difficult to really grasp the material in a short time. Classes last 5 weeks, but you still have to go all the work that someone going to a 'normal' college would do in 16 weeks... yes that means all the papers too. And don't forget about all the clinical hours too.

If you are really dedicated you can make it. but don't think this program in a walk in the park. its not. My class started in Sept. 07 with over 30 people. We graduated 2 weeks ago with only 9.
