Im going to talk to MCI today about starting their RN program. I been a LPN for about 1 and a half years so part of me is excited and the other part is anxious. Anybody else felt this way when they started school?

I am going to talk to MCI today! I too am anxious yet excited! I dont know what to expect. I just hope I do good on the entrance tests and everything! Good luck to you tho!

Well i hope that you have better luck than i did because i went over there to talk to a representative yesterday. I had an appointment at 1pm. At 140 pm i was still waiting there waiting to speak with someone sence it was my first time there. I got up and told the receptionist that i have been waiting to talk to my representative and that people that have came after me have already been seen by the representative that i was supposed to see. The receptionist stated that the representative would not be that long with the other people. I asked her could I seen someone else and the receptionnist told me that if i wanted to see someone else then i would have to refill out the application. I had already filled out one application and didnt understand why i would have to fill out another one to speak with a different representative. i sat down and waited another twenty minutes and finally i just got up and left. So i sat over ther for over an hour and did not get any of my questions answered.:(

I went yesterday and I really didnt get any answers either. I had my appt at 5:45. It didnt take long to see the rep but all I did was do my 1st interview for the program. He didnt really explain anything to me. I have to go back on Sat to do my TEAS test. I still have alot of unanswered questions about the program

TSRNTOBE--your school sound slike a pain in the A__ like my school. Better luck next time!

That sucks! I'm sorry that both of you had a trying time! My experience was not like that at all. Which campuses did you go to? If you look through some of the old posts, you can probably find some of your answers! I'm starting the RN program on Monday and I have no problem answering any questions you might have. :D

Well I know a few people that went to the VA beach campus and they said it was a good school, but when i went to go get more information about there RN program, I didnt get any help, I understand that they are very busy but they should be a little more helpful to prospective students, I will try and talk to someone again next week but if i have the same experience then i will start looking into other schools

I went to the Richmond campus! All I really want to know is info about tuition, financial aid they have available and what the evening class schedule is.

well good luck

Thanks! You too!

I'm at VB campus! I had an opposite experience and have had no problems at all. I hope when you go back that you'll have a better experience! Be sure to tell that person about your first time - they do get a lot of appts, but they do strive to impress you!

The tuition is a lot - I think they're saying $40,000 now?? Prereqs are free (computers, math, chemistry). Tuition includes uniforms, books, etc. The day program is 15 months and nights/weekends is 18 months. The classes are very accelerated, so they're looking for students that can handle the load. Some students have said that they've had to take the TEAS test (entrance test) at their first appt - so be prepared! I know the tuition steers a lot of people away, but because it's so accelerated, it's worth it to me. They participate in the federal financial aid program, so if you qualify for pell grant or other grants- great!! They also have a few $1000 scholarships you can apply to (military, financial need, charitable service, etc). The day schedule is pretty much 8-5 every day - BUT this changes per mod and depends on clinicals. My first mod we don't have any Monday classes! (each mod is 5 weeks). The night class is 6-10:30 and some Saturdays. Of course, times and days vary per mod, but that's the gist of the classes.

They don't like to post this info online b/c they really want you to come in and hear about the program and take the tour (the VB campus has a great "doctor's office" with a lot of "robots" - one even gives birth!). Don't be discouraged by the price. You'll be working that much sooner and earning money sooner.

The RN program starts three times a year - Jan, May, and Aug. You're too late to get in for Jan, but if you start the process soon you'll have the prereqs done to be in the pool for May.

The NN and VB campus are both in canidacy status with NLNAC and all campuses are accredited with SACS. I don't think the Richmond campus has NLN accredidation, so I'd ask about this at your initial interview.

Hope this info helped!
