Starting school soon & my mind in blank on A&P!

I finished my A&P prereqs nearly three years ago, and I start my program next May.

I got out my flashcards today & I'm drawing an absolute blank. I think I'm going to go back through my study guides & book and "reteach" myself.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to refresh A&P so I'm prepared? What part(s) do you use most during school and on a daily basis and what part(s) do you feel you need to spend less on?

Thanks!

***That should be, my mind "is" blank, not "in!"

I think it will all come back to you.

You could trying picking up the anatomy and physiology coloring books and working through them in your spare time. Sort of a fun and relaxing way to brush up. Break out the crayons and eat some Elmer's paste! :yeah:

Just read an A&P book.

This may sound goofy, but I found a huge book at B&N called Wall Chart of Human Anatomy...3D Full-Body Images and Detailed Systems Charts. It was only $8. I have it hung up on my bedroom wall, right in front of my treadmill.

When I was in the states a few weeks ago, we went to Target (nope, we don't have one here, yet!) to pick up some school supplies... They have a section by the binders for laminated reference sheets, some for things like basic french, spanish, conversion for math and alegbra, biology, and I managed to grab an A&P one. It fits in your binder perfectly, and has 4 pages of colored Anatomy diagrams! Every system is covered, I believe. I think it was $3.00, but i'm sure it's going to make a good quick reference for me!

Thanks so much for all your ideas! I tacked up the poster that came with my flashcards and found some of those laminated reference sheets you mentioned! I wanted the coloring books the first time around, and I think now I'll splurge!

I have a stupid question, since I have no experience with nursing classes, beyond prereqs, where my professor referred to things by eye, chin, neck and not orbital, mental, axis, etc.

Do most professors use the "common" names of body parts/organs in class & on tests, or the medical names? I.e., I'll be using "laceration on the dermis" rather than "laceration on the skin" more?

I need to retrain and drill all this into my brain!

Thanks!

Heck, you got nothing to worry about! I barely remembered what I was tested on, but I got straight A's (in Pre-nursing, which are reportedly the hardest courses). There is so much there under multiple terms that the Professors' don't even know. All you can do is go by what the expert Professor or test modules direct you to know. And when you need it, it somehow appears because you were taught by experts. Go with the flow!
