i will be starting on a pre and post surgical floor.....
i have tried to find books about studying the care that would entail this type of work and can't find any ! please help! if anyone has had experience or knows that would be awesome! what type of surgeries do you usually deal with? i'm so nervous about this as this is my first nursing job!!!!!

aww. I used to feel the same as you when I first started back in jan 14 of this year.
Well honest what I can tell you is that in my surgical floor, we see lots of types of surgeries.
-broken bones= internal and external fixators (look up)
-appendix removal
-appendicitis (lots of antibiotic administration)
-plastic surgeries (peds birth problems- cleft palates)
you will see. I can't tell you everything because it is a lot, and it is overwhelming at first........but you learn, and you will make your little mistakes here and there.....
always ask questions, even if people laugh at you (just laugh with them! that is what I do)
and work at night! it's a lot slower pace and less overwhelming than day shift!
and about staying up at night.... don't worry, it is easier than you think. you just stay up because you have to, and in the day you will sleep because you have to!
