starting pay in FL & MO for RN

Published

Hi everyone! I am pretty new here.....still in nursing school-with a graduation of Summer 2008-woohoo!

We currently live in MO, just outside of St.Louis. I am looking for the average starting pay of an RN in my area, in Ped's or OB.........but the main reason I ask is hubby is being offered a job in Florida, which with our current weather looks wonderful! My school is online(chamberlain), so I can move and stay in current school......but looking for FL pay rates for Ped's or OB in the Port Charolette area and the Melbourne area-he could move to either area. I would like to add these numbers to our decision making process! Thanks a bunch!!:balloons:

I would suggest calling recruiters in both areas and ask them, generally speaking hospitals will pay pretty close to the same wage but might offer better benefits, so you would need to get all the facts and figures to make a very well informed decision. I make less than some places, but my benefits are awesome, have hardly any out of pocket for medical insurance, get a great tuition reimbursement plan to further my education, various other nice perks and my drive is 20 mins. from my front door.

Your pay will vary by your circumstances and your experience and so it would be better to go straight to the source, the people that pay you, to find out.

St Louis area hospitals are starting around $19.00/hr. I started 2 yrs ago as a new grad at $18.50 + $0.25 for BSN differential. No clue on Florida....sure sounds good though!!!
