Any advice, tips, or anything I should invest in? I start a diploma program September 3rd straight through for 22 mos. I have anatomy, micro, and 2 entry level nursing courses first semester. I know its going to be way intense. Just a background I'm 24 (today :) married no kids, I have an associates in HR, and I have an hour long drive to school! Thanks in advance.. I'm getting nervous but I'm determined!!

Congratulations!

I am a second year nursing student so I just went through what you did. Some advice I have for you is to take advantage of your teachers. They are the best resource you will ever have, being that not only are they nurses but they are trained to explain things to you. Ask all the questions you can while you have them for the 22 months!

Also, Invest in a lot of note cards because there is a ton to memorize. Especially when it comes to your anatomy course. There is this online flashcard website I use called quizlet.com. It lets you play games with your flashcards!

hope this helps

Diploma program? There aren't many of those. Where is that if you don't mind me asking?

Just want to say congrats and good luck to you! I will be starting my 2 yr diploma program September 4th! I'm not married but I am a single mom to a 14 month old who starts daycare on the 3rd (I think I'm more nervous about that than I am about starting school, lol).

I'll be new to this as well so not much advice about school. I know the biggest things I plan to focus on are: staying organized, not getting behind on my work, drill myself with NCLEX questions, and honing my critical thinking skills.

Congrats!!! I'm very excited for you! I'm starting my second and final year of nursing school and was going through what you are last year. Enjoy your free time while you can, you'll be spending most of your time indoors and in the company of books when school starts. As for anatomy, I really liked getbodysmart.com for a great way to quiz myself on the location of muscles, bones, etc. Anatomy and Micro are all memorization. Making flashcards and teaching the information to someone who doesn't know anything about it is a great way to really learn the material. Be organized, planning ahead and organizing your time is your best friend! Good luck!

Thank you everyone! :) Espically for the study websites that will be helpful. My program is in Pittsburgh, PA.
