Hi, I need some help.I graduated nursing school five years ago. A few months ago I took the NCLEX and passed. I interviewed for a job in med/Surge and it looks promising. I took so long to take my test and actually get an RN job because I let the fear of hurting someone paralyze my ambition. Anyways, I haven't been able to stop thinking about being a nurse so I am committed to going thru this time. My question is I feel so lost and I was hoping some of the great nurses here could give me some topics/skills/meds/anything else you think I could brush up on or study before I start my job. I don't want to know nothing for my first day

Oh my gosh honey! First of all CONGRATS on passing the exam and securing a job which is no big feat for someone who's been out of school for so long.
You will basically be starting off as a new grad who is a little rusty.
The first thing I recommend is seeing if there are any nurse refresher courses in your area. They should be listed on your state board of nursing's website.
Secondly, I recommend a clipboard that opens with space for papers and things.
Thirdly, go on YouTube. There are lots of great channels with information that can be of use. EmpoweRN is one of my favorites. She is great and she goes over skills and medications and various health conditions. EmpoweRN

Finally, feel free to ask any specific questions you have on allnurses.com. Many members on this site are happy to help as long as you've put some effort into finding the answer yourself and give proof of that. I will be happy to answer any specific questions that I know the answers to along the way.
Best of luck!
