Hello all,
I am attending orientation for TTC Nashville campus for LPN tomorrow March 15, 2011 @ 1:30pm. :yeah:I was wondering if anyone can tell me what the next step is after that? What is the orientation about? How long after that can I expect to receive my acceptance letter? Sorry so many questions but has anyone been through this program at TTC Nashville campus already that can offer me some advice from the students perspective and some tips?
I have read pretty must every nursing post on this site but none are current for the class that is starting in May 2011.
Any information would be much helpful

The orientation was informational based as well as generalized. We went over the criteria for Nursing students, overview of what would be covered curriculum wise, class requirements, clinical requirements, CPR certifications, and finally required dress for class and clinicals. The company that was there to give information on the dress attire for classroom learning was called Land Uniform convienently located on Charlotte Pike. The required uniform is manufactured by Landau and while students are not required to purchase these uniforms or shoes from this company, they are required to purchase the same style and based on the listing of approved attire on the TTCN website. The acceptance letters will be mailed on March 25, pre-registration is April 7th, and classes begin May 2nd. The price for the first trimester is about 1960.00 out of pocket due at registration. There were roughly 50 people in attendance in the required orientation today and per the nursing director they are selecting 70 people for the class.
Just wanted to update anyone interested in the process. I noticed there were 47 views but no one wanted to share there experiences...oh well I hope everyone is still equally excited about nursing.
Happy Nursing :-) !!!!!
Just wanted to update anyone interested.

I got my acceptance letter yesterday!!! Starting class in MAY!!! Has anyone else been reseaching the books and uniforms? I found only a few postings on Craigslist for the books. Is anyone planning on buying the books and uniforms new or used?
There was a current student in my CPR class this past week and she said to STUDY STUDY STUDY!!!! Good luck to everyone!
I received my letter on Saturday, March 26th:D. I am going to try to buy used and if I can't find anything used I will break down and buy new . I also am looking at other vendors for the required uniforms/shoes we have to wear while in class. I thought about working during school as long as I could but my husband is very supportive (and says I shouldn't) and we have enough saved up that if things even look as if they may get overwhelming for me the job is canned . Learning is what I do though and very well I completed my BBA with honors and my MBA as well . I will see you all on the pre-registration day which is scheduled for April 7th.
BTW I got a ticket for driving without my License on me in August 2007 and got a letter with my acceptance letter saying that red flag information would be turned over to the clinical sites and if they deem necessary they can exclude me from that clinical site..really..I mean it was a ticket I was fined for. I didn't kill anyone , drive drunk, abuse anyone, steal anything, or wreck for that matter, heck that is the one and only thing on my record and I will be 31 in May. I am not worried though God got me this far so I have no concerns just wanted to know if anyone else got this letter too. (and if I can do 5 kids, a husband, work full-time and complete my MBA I can do this too).
HAPPY NURSING:D:nurse:
I seriously doubt that fine will really matter for clinicals. They did say that we would have to do more background checks before clinicals. Each place must have certain information they are looking for or a certain company they use.
The girl I emailed on Craigslist, that will be graduating in April, said she would ask other people in her class about selling their uniforms. As far as uniforms, some pieces are a little cheaper online but I could not find anything that was used.
However, books I did find! Try Half.com. They have an option for you to look up the books by their ISBN number. They even have an option that will find the best price and shipping for all of your books together. I think there was only two that actually combined shipping. My total with shipping (Media Mail) was $270.36. With
expedited shipping; $283.27. So try looking online for the books. That was for Like New condition.
Does anyone know about the CPR fee they listed on the Expense Sheet for the first term? It says due before 2nd trimester but at orientation they said we have to be CPR certified before the first day of class. I have already been certified (last Wednesday with Robert Thornhill). I wonder if this is an additional class or fee??? The drug screen says the same thing about being due before the second trimester. I am assuming this is for clinicals maybe???
I appreciate that (about asking about the uniforms) that would really help especially since they will no longer need them. I will also use the website you gave me to find my textbooks I am all about saving money and gently used textbooks will suite me just fine. Where did you get the updated listed from? In the letter it said it would be given out on pre-registration day. I have the list off line but I was not able to find the "nursing packet" whatever that is I googled it and everything and still I can't find out what's in it.
I wont worry about that fine unless one of my instructors says something else I am sure they would not have even accepted me if it was going to truly be an issue. Hey maybe we can make plans to be in a study group together..how does that sound to you?
I too am a bit confused about the CPR fee, do we have to take another CPR class () or where they saying that was the estimated fee for us to take it? The drug screen and background check are other fees I was confused about since it said they were not due until second term. I guess I need to know what exactly is due the first time so April 7th must be the day I will find that out.
BTW since we are not paying fees on pre-registration day..when exactly are fees due (I have to pay out of pocket since I already have an MBA {graduate May 14th} so I am not eligible for financial aid any longer)
On anothe note HSN (Home Shopping Network) is hiring for work @ home CSR's and if your looking to do something part-time or full-time while attending school this would work as it keeps you home after school and still time with family and to study. Apply on HSN.com click careers.

I was using the Fall 2010 book list that they gave us. If this person comes through with more people willing to sell their uniforms then maybe they will want to get rid of their books too!!! The two things I figured i would absolutely have to purchase from the bookstore was the 'skills bag' and the 'instructor note/drug cards'. I did see in our letter where it said we would get a REAL list of our books. This is a little crazy. I am not sure why they could not send the list with our acceptance letters. I assume our expense sheet may change also! The expense fee sheet we were given at orientation says $60 for classroom uniforms but that can't be right. They must not have included the shoes!
The girl that was in my CPR class said there was a stethoscope, syringes, bottles of fluids, catheter, and some latex gloves. I may have missed something. I think she said she only paid $65 for hers though. So that has went up.
As far as April 7th, we are just pre-registering. You will not have to pay anything that day. The fees will be due when we actually register or the first day of class. I am confused on that part. I am hoping when we pre-register they give us definite information. Playing the guessing game and trying to get answers is hard to do. I would rather know all of this ahead of time! Ms Suhr told me that the fees are due for each trimester before you start the next one. So, you would not have to pay out of pocket for everything the first day.
Starting a study group would be awesome. Everyone that I tell or my husband tells that I got accepted says....it is hardcore, lots and lots of information in a short amout of time. But that it will ALL be worth it. I will definitely have to study. ALOT. I am totally NEW to nursing! I am very excited about this.
I am very excited too and I can't wait.
I have also been told that it is alot of work and studying but I am certainly up for the challenge:eek:. Let me know what happens with the connection and the uniforms and possibly the books. I also hate that we have to play ring around the guessing rosy with the school but I guess all that is kept hush for some reason..we just don't know it.
So here is a dilemma. I have been looking for the uniforms online to see what kind of prices I can get. Mostly just reseach so I don't pay way too much for used ones. I found a different style for the 8335 Landau pants @ ScrubHub.com. At ScrubHub these pants have a side pocket. This is just confusing!!!!
The paper they gave us at orientation with the uniform information is not everything. According to that guy, anything on their website under the Tennessee Tech Center at Nashville tab is approved. They have more on there than what he brought with him.
I hope pre-registration is ALOT more informative.
Shoes...I wonder which shoe is the best. If anyone has any preference, let me know.
so today i went to scrubhub (it's one block from my house in murfreesboro) but those pants are odd fitting (on me). i went to a uniform store in the avenue as well (in murfreesboro) but i forgot the name but they don't sell the shirts nor do they sale the landua brand khaki or white swan color. i went to a place on bell rd as well in the shopping center with olive garden and home depot..no luck there either. so i broke down and went to land uniforms on charlotte and got two medium shirts with emblams, two pair of white swan khaki pants xl, and my warm up jacket with patch to so on and i paid a total of $108.50. i went on sears.com used coupon code searsmarch15 and got a total of $12.95 off the (that included the free shipping which would have been $6.95) nurse mates pepper white nursing shoe because it was the cheapest of all the shoes and i looked at 3 different stores and 6 different online stores and sears had the cheapest one.
btw i decided against used uniforms for school since they would have been a year old and possibly stained and a little worn.
last thing on my list to get is books but i am trying to get an up to date list so i don't buy things i don't need or are outdate. i checked that website you gave me and i could get all my books for about 280.00 which is awesome.
happy nursing
I am going to try Scrub Hub tomorrow I think. I want to see how those pants fit. I LOVE all the pockets on the other though. I would like to try on the shoes to see which one i like the best. I am hoping Scrub Hub has them or maybe some place out my way (Hermitage/Mt. Juliet).
I am waiting on the uniforms right now unless I like those pants tomorrow. My husband and mom say to just find something else to think about until next Thursday when we hopefully get all the needed information! After I had my son, I stayed home for about 3 months then went back to work. I only worked for about 7 weeks before I got laid off. A few months after that, they closed the warehouse I was working in and consolidated into one warehouse. Some people were able to stay. Because of that, I qualified for some program which would pay for me to go back to school. So, I am trying to take advantage of that. They told me to wait to buy uniforms and books until I get all the paperwork I need from the school on pre-registration day. I may buy one classroom uniform now and the shoes and wait for the others until that program kicks in to help pay for the rest. They said it would take a few weeks to get everything signed and back to the school. That puts the timing right when school starts. I am afraid they won't have my size in the shirts or something will need to be ordered. Since we have to have this stuff to start class I would rather be safe than sorry or get stuck with a shirt WAY too big for me.
I emailed Ms Myatt about a few questions I had and she said we would recieve the expense sheet and a book list on pre-registration.
Waiting is sometimes hard to do!! But I am searching for a daycare for the youngest now. So that should keep me pretty busy!
