starting job in belfast-how much money is enough for 1 month

Published

Dear All,

I am flying in 2 weeks to Belfast (for 2-year contract as general nurse, while retorgression for US visas is going on). I wont get paid until we have worked for 30 days, therefore I need to bring my own moneys to get through at least 1 month-food, fare, etc. I dont know how much things are in Belfast, and I would likke to know how much is a sensible amount to bring to see me thorugh 1 full month there.Thank you so much!

Hi,

It all depends on where you are going to live? Will you need rent to be included in monies, how far are you away from the hospital? Will you need to use the bus or are you going to buy a car?

Are you going to be cooking or eating out? You say you have a 2 year contract, will you not have to do adaptation as part of that contract?

hi madwifee2002, thanks for the reply

i am going to newtownbreda in belfast and accomodation is provided by the employer.i will be commuting by bus to and from the place of work, and i will be eating out for at least a month. apart from accomodation, i will have to pay for everything else. and yes, i will be on adapatation for 3 months as part of the 2-year contract.:) i hear its very expensive in the UK and for some reason i have a fear that the monies i think will be good for a month will end up barely enough for a week there!!?? s i need a concrete idea. thank you so much for any input!!

I would not have thought for food and bus fares you would need any more that £75-£100 per week and that you could live really well on that.
