I just finished my second day of orientation.
What gets me really nervous is all of the new documentation that you will see.
Nurses fill them out very fast while I look at them like wow what do I do with all of these documents. I took home about 15 documents that I am trying to learn so I am more prepared when I go next time.
One thing you need to do is every round you go to a patients room document everything you do, if they had a bm, voided etc... so later when you are writing your nurses notes it will be much easier.
Every hour I would write at what time i walked in..if they were sleeping etc... what pain they had, any bed sores, etc...
no bleeding in wounds etc...
I am very new so just giving small tips.

Aw thanx for ur advice anything else u want to offer up I'm def. here to lend an ear
Be nice to all patients. Several nurses were saying that a certain patient was always mean to them.
I am shy but I walked in and I was very nice to the patient. I smiled and just treated her nice. After this the nurse orientating me always wanted me to go in and give her the meds.
I don't know why she was mean to all other nurses but I think its always important to smile and just treat all patients very nice.
I am very new so I would also like to know if any experienced nurses can give us some tips. :)
It is a snf with 85% of the patients coming from the hospital for rehabilitation

First of all, Congrats!!!
Secondly, I understand that nervous feeling. I have been out of school since the summer of 2011 and was just offered a job (this is the first interview that I have had, so I am very lucky). At this time, still going through the hiring process.
I will be working in an assisted living facility.
Anyone have any idea of what to expect with these folks?
