starting accelerated nursing...advice?

Published

Hello,

Starting the accelerated RN program jan 16th, and I just got my books in for the first semester and all I have to say is WOW. What should I expect from this type of program? Dedication is not a problem, but any advice is much appreciated!! Thanks in Advance :roll

Dedication - yes. Most of all... organization. Take good notes, tape record the class if you can.

Re-write your notes over and over if you can. Purchase, if you don't already have one, a NCLEX RN Review book. Practice the questions according to whatever topic you have. Watch videos. Form a study group, just make sure everyone in your group is dedicated to studying.

Invest on a very good luggage bag with handle and wheels. A must have for all of your books.

My classmates love their pdas'. I can't afford one.

Continue to use this site, it makes me feel like I am not alone. There are alot of "US" here.:)

I wish you the best of luck.

Get anything in your personal life that needs to be done before you start~ you need no outside distractions whatsoever~

Good Luck~

Congrats! I'm in an ADN program and to me it is quite similar to an accelerated BSN program.

4rom2bRN and Bec 717 offered great advice.

Adding to that:

-definitely surround yourself with study partners and people that are equally passionate and dedicated!

-Remember that your time is valuable so plan it wisely from the start.

-Set aside some "me" time and time for family every week so that you won't burn out and your relationships won't suffer.

-If you need help, find it early!!

-Get proper rest...you'll need it.
