I am looking for advice, input, information from anyone who has taken a travel assignment at Stanford.  On my first day I am scheduled for one day of "Traveler Orientation". I have heard there is testing (EKG, and more) that will dictate whether or not you are actually allowed to begin your assignment.  Does anyone have any experience with this facility?

Specializes in ICU, travel.

I have not, but if they're foolish enough to treat their travelers like they're trying out for the Green Berets, that would be a hilarious waste of time and money.  Ask your agency.  I've never heard of EKG testing once you get to the facility.  I've taken Prophecy exams and some other testing format when I was doing my compliance for some assignments, but waiting until the facility orientation?  Seems unlikely.  Ask your recruiter.  You could post on r/travelnursing and maybe get a bite.

There was the couple of assignment I did years ago there. OR nurse, but I had to do the EKG and drug tests along with everyone else.

I just signed my first travel contract for Stanford! How was their EKG test? Other tests? I just asked my recruiter if this is in person or all online prior to starting?

I just completed an assignment there. I appreciated a formal traveler orientation- Epic, learning modules and proficiency exams (all done in the classroom online). Nothing you had to study for. I too had heard of an EKG test that dictated weather if not you were actually permitted to begin your assignment- I did not actually experience this. I was in a peri-operative/recovery unit. Good luck to you!

Thank you Bremon! Recovery is where I’ll be going too! This has definitely eased my anxiety. I’ll be turning in my resignation from my staff PACU position today! Ekkkkk! ??Thank you so much for this! It has truly given me some peace of mind as well. Where are you to next?

What are your thoughts on the pacu there? What is it like?
