New thread for applicants to Stanford's RN new grad program in March 2017 ! I am still in the proceas of finishing my application. Does anybody know if we need to upload a transcript ? Comment Below!

I put in my application when the program first opened up last year in August-December 2016, not sure when. My application went from "in review" to the dreaded "consider for future" then to "in review," once more. I got a call for an interview for the March cohort and was given 2 options surgical or internal medicine/ psych not sure but I chose surgical. I was told their would be 4 nurse managers they will each ask you one question, have real clinical experiences, (explanation the situation, action, and outcome) in 2 minutes succinct answer. And that's pretty much how it went. Everyone their was well qualified but here is the truth about this process, the people you are interviewing with could be your coworkers in the future because they can choose all of you or none depending on who the unit managers want for their team. I am happy to say that I accepted a position yesterday. Good luck to you all!

Happy to say I accepted a position from Stanford as well, yay!

What unit @Sycohnda209x ?

Medsurge DGR what about you?

Hi there! I was wondering if anyone could give some advice as to the questions they were asked in their interviews? I have one coming up at Stanford and would love any advice and help you could offer!

Hi,

To anyone who was accepted into the Stanford New grad program. How are you liking it? Are you happy with your choice?

I am sitting here with my cohort and we all like it so far. Some of us have been fortunate to have really good preceptors but others have complained and even cried about their experience so it varies by unit and person. It's definitely difficult being a newgrad and adjusting to the hospital. Every day is a challenge and it's rewarding at the same time. It just takes time. I am happy with my choice and I plan to transfer to the ICU when I get the chance. One thing I will let you know is that Stanford is changing to a new model where every unit will have patients on monitors. Its called adaptive acuity units and it's practically the ability to take care of IICU patients on every floor. The ratio changes to 3:1 when you do have to care for one of these patients and the education is being merged with the newgraduate program.

Has anyone heard when the next cohort might start? The website still just says 2018.

Hello, I am considering applying for Stanford's RN new grad program. I know that the application period begins 12/18/17 to 1/12/18. Can anyone tell me what their application package requirements consists of, such as how many LOR, any essays, etc. Thank you.

Application is completed online, with options to upload files such as resume, LOC etc. Each year the essay requirements change. My friend a few cohorts ahead of me only had 3 essays, while I had at least 5 from what I can remember. Essays are very basic, nothing you can't tackle, and definitely not impossible. The application process is pretty straight forward. Best of luck!

Hi! I have an interview for the April 2018 cohort. Any advice from those who got the job? I just graduated in December so this is all moving a little fast, it's nerve wrecking. Examples would be great. Thank you!!
