Stanford Medicine Healthcare Nurse Residency March 2024 Cohort 40

Nurses Residency

Updated:   Published

Starting a thread for the New Grad program starting March 2024!

Note from allnurses Staff

As this is one of our most popular new grad residencies on this forum, with hundreds of threads over the years, the allnurses support team wanted to share some additional information on the residency program.

Good luck to all!

Stanford New Nurse Residency Program

The Stanford RN Residency Program, which started in 2006, is one of the most sought-after residencies in the country. The Winter 40 Cohort has a start date of March 18th, 2024.

It is a separate residency program from the Stanford Children's Health (Lucile Packard) Program and the Stanford ValleyCare programs.

Residency Program Pay

The pay is competitive at $81.69/hour plus shift differentials:

  • 10% evenings
  • 18% nights and
  • 5% weekends

Interviews

Interview invites are scheduled to be sent out at the beginning of January, with the interviews taking place from January 29th- February 9th, 2024. There are two separate interviews:

  • Panel level: an approximately hour-long virtual group interview with 4-5 candidates; each applicant will have an opportunity to answer all the same questions
  • Unit Level: a 30-60-minute interview with the hiring manager and potentially other members of the leadership team; this interview could be virtual or in-person

Specialties Offered

There are four specialty areas that participate in the new grad program:

  1. Critical Care
  2. Inpatient Medicine Units
  3. Inpatient Surgical Units
  4. Inpatient Oncology

As well as some additional specialties (subject to change). Applicants are asked to rank their preferences, but you will only be interviewed for one specialty.

Does anyone know if we're able to receive feedback from our interview or send a thank you email? Thank you ?

Hi Pwong! Sorry for my late response. I was busy preparing for my 2nd round. I just finished my 2nd round. I feel that being well-prepared is the most important thing. During the interview prep, they mentioned all the qualities of a clinical nurse, such as communication, time management, cultural competency, teamwork, etc. I prepared about 14 different stories that I could use to respond to similar behavioral questions. Besides that, having a clear structure is really important. You need to cover all the components of each question, which includes 'What happened, what did you do, what was the outcome, and what did you learn from it?'"

Hey Emma! Do you mind sharing your email? I too interviewed for F3 last week.

Medicine said they would contact us by Thursday evening regarding unit level interviews so I've already given up hope long ago.. but so strange that not one person has heard back from medicine from this forum ??
Wish everyone the best nonetheless!

Yeah I only saw 20 spots total for the link I received for all day Wednesday. There were 4 (including me) for my time slot. Do you remember any of the units from your interview? ?

Got a call from psych earlier today around 3pm!
