I'm thinking of leaving my full time RN job in a step-down unit to take on a 5 month seasonal telemetry job. I would like to work 5-6 months per year as a seasonal / traveler, the remainder of the year I'd like to be off. I have one year experience and with the upcoming winter, would have ~18 months. This would be my first "travel" gig. Nursing is a second career for me.
I'm OK with the financial aspects and with the limitations that having only 18 months experience would impose.
Here's my question: Do you seasoned travelers think that hiring managers would consider me stale product when after being off for 6 months, I look for work again? I'd like to do this for several years. Is being away from nursing for 6 months per year a concern?
Thanks.

Some think so, others not so much. Besides the hiring manager, your profile also has to make it past HR and the agency whose opinions about the need for current experience has little basis. You might try to make your seasonal position recurring. That would sidestep some of those issues.
