Staff Development Days

Hello all,

I am one of three RNs on staff at a special needs school and I am trying to come up with some activites/trainings to do on staff development days. We currently train all staff on the use of EpiPens, inhalers, Diastat, tube feeds, etc. So we are pretty much on top of those things. We have done ventilator training in the past as well. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Thanks :)

My suggestion is to create an agenda for topics of discussion so you'll have documentation...then spend the day shooting the breeze, going to lunch with each other, and venting frustrations; very therapeutic!

Thanks OldDude,RN, that's pretty much what happens now!

Or go somewhere for education. You can write it up so it seems like a full day, then go shopping! Seriously, though, outside speakers are always good. Drug and alcohol, mental health, infectious disease. Many people will come for free or cheap.
