St. Rose New Grad Residency Sept. 2013

U.S.A. Nevada

Published

Hi everyone. Just wanted to start a thread for the upcoming new grad residency at St. Rose. Applications being accepted today Jun 1- Jun 7. Lets keep in touch for all those who applied and see how this goes. They are only accepting 13 new grads.. smh...

The interviews were kinda odd though.

Yeah I agree. I was only there for 1 interview and had to wait 2 hours for it. I had a lot of anxiety watching people come and go. Soooo many people had two interviews, which made me feel kind of nervous because that doubles their chances of being selected. I had to do well in my only interview or I was done. I went in there expecting a lot of scenario questions but I got a lot of customer service related questions, as well as the dreaded conflict resolution question and difficult patient question.

Congrats on getting selected though!! My friend also got selected for the same exact unit you did at same hospital. I will be there also in the IMC unit.

Did you get your official offer letter yet? I'm still waiting on it. The verbal offer just feels surreal right now and I can't trust it until I see it on paper. Lol

Would anyone be willing to share the application experience? What did the essay entail, and what additional documents did you need to apply? I really am in need of a position to fulfill as scholarship and pay my bills. For those who got interviewed/ hired, how did the interviews go and what suggestions would you give? Any help is very appreciated.

The timeline on the job opening description is pretty accurate. They send rejection letters out fairly quickly so you don't have to play the waiting game. It's a structured process they do. You apply, nursing managers from the specified units look at your package and select those that they have an interest in. Then you do the math and career battery test (personality test). Then if selected, you get a call back for interview. Everyone interviews in the same day. Takes them hours to about a week to either call and let you know you were selected or get your rejection letter. I got my job offer 2 hours after my interview.

Interview questions vary based on the unit you are interviewing for. I had Customer service questions galore and a couple scenario questions. Good luck :)

for the st rose interview, do you know about how long it took per interview? what to expect or any tips? im extremely nervous and this thread has been so helpful! thanks!

Hello there bebejasmine2002,

I was scouring all over the internet for interview tips and somehow managed to run into your post. I am applying for the same new grad residency program that you were in on the same floor and hospital. I was wondering, are there any tips you can give me in regards to the types of behavioral or clinical scenario questions and how to best approach them? What should I know off the top of my head? Also, were you interviewed by one person or a number of staff? I really want this job and don't want to ruin this great blessed opportunity. Thank you soo much in advance!

P.S. I wanted to send you a private message but the forum wouldn't let me since I am a new member :/

Hi there. Interviews are usually from a panel of nurses. In my case, I had 2 because the nursing manager had to be elsewhere. Dress professionally, be confident, and think about the questions asked before answering them. I can't exactly remember the questions I was asked but I know they asked a couple scenario questions. Know why you want to work on the floor you applied for and think try and remember a couple clinical experiences that you can go into depth about because they will ask you questions on that. Good luck! Hope this helps :)

I just had my interview and I think it went well...fingers crossed! Thank you so much for your advice and willingness to help a complete stranger, but hopefully a fellow colleague soon! :)

Anyone heard anything about the most recent program? @ pnguyen, did you hear back?

Hi!! I know it's been awhile but how was the interview process for you?
