U.S.A. Texas

Helloooooo everyone! this is my second posting, I figured I should be more specific with my Title, maybe it'll attract others. I'm so excited for the program and I'm just looking for some insight, advice, what to expect etc. I'm also interested in talking with those who are already in the program, has applied for Spring 2012, or has already completed it. I'm very excited to start the program. I found out about the LVN program on the 21st and went in and got my application asap. I have all my documents in now and plan on turning in my app this Tuesday. I would really love to converse and learn as much as I can about what to expect and how to prepare. It took me a while, trying to figure out which program to go with. If I should go take the ADN at San Antonio College, or just go straight to my bsn at uthsc. But I've decided to do the lvn then go to my bsn once I'm done. I look forward to hearing from you all and goodluck to those applying for the spring! God bless:nurse:

thats good. Do you know if your sister liked the program? How were the clinical rotations and where were they, were staff and professors helpful and supportive? I'm going to do lvn-rn then rn-bsn

Yeah she enjoyed it. I mean - she said of course it was tough & she wanted to strangle a few teachers; but it was well worth while. Lol she was one of the first few people to comment on your post..she'll probably be back on here soon and fill you in. Clinicals for her (and most others) are Thursday & Friday). They are all over San Antonio. It's up to the teacher to pick where they think we'll get te most benefit. We do nursing homes, hospitals, rehabs, etc. There are 2 teacher that I can remember her saying completely sucked! But everyone else was great.

oh gosh! hopefully they got rid of those two teachers lol. Oh ok yea, I was told clinicals are thurs and fri. so every thurs and fri we go somewhere different for clinicals?

lol nope..they're still there. and we dont go to clinicals immediately. i think after 3-4 weeks. and once we do' we stay at that particular place until we move on to the next course i believe. ill double check with my sister.

Yea clinicals are in flex 2-March 19th. oh ok.

yeah i just checked with my sister...for each class/clinical we stay in the same place. so all of basic nursing skills will be at ...Normandy Terrace. (

Oh ok cool. What do you think will be covered at orientation?

probably the basic rules. attendance. dress code. how our class days will go. the difference between theory, lab and clinicals. things of that nature, i imagine.

oh ok, do you know how long the orientation will be? And do you know if it's just like a mini meeting with the students? Just going over the info and letting us go?

Kind of annoyed because I just saw tht they placed a financial aid hold on my account :\ now I have to call them once again which is a task in itself.

its from 8 or 830- to 1230. and we have to stay the entire time. all students starting class have to be there. its mandated. so rules and what not but i guess also so we can see each other. maybe get numbers and stuff. and meet our teachers.

o crap! let me check mine.... ugh! sorry about that. i'll let you know what happens. and yeah its always best to actually be present when dealing with financial aid. otherwise they'll run all over you.

Yea thtll b great. Did they send info on the time of orientation? Unless I overlooked, the acceptance letter only had the date of it. When I get a hold of them they're great, but its just the calling and the phone saying they're busy n call back -___- so ya. I was surprised at the hold its some 7 day hold which is so annoying because 7 days from today will b the last day theyre open until jan. And it says until the hold is taken off, my financial aid award will be held up ughhh
