St. Philips College (Alamo Colleges) LVN Program Spring 2017

Hello,

I've applied for the St. Philips LVN program. It's been five weeks, and no answer for me yet. Anyone else whose applied and in the same boat?

Did the background

So to get a loan through ACES it takes 4-6 weeks just to get approved, then a 30 day wait period to receive it. I'm so mad at SPC for telling us so late.

So do we have to pay everything in full or can we do payments.

Tuition can be a payment plan, however I did the calculations of the medical supplies i.e. stethoscope ect.. books, scrubs, shoes, school supplies, and the first payment for the NCLEX ATI prep and the total is a rough estimate of $2, 850.00 out of pocket.

Is that for all the books or just first semester. I wanna know the total cost and when payments are due to know how much I need to get a loan for but I guess I'll end up waiting until the orientation and hope fafsa covers what is due before class starts

Tuition is $2,100 ( with no pre requisite courses, so if you have the pre reqs it will be slightly less the for first semester) plus $700 for the special tuition fee = $2,800.00 per semester the books cost $1,100.00 ( you really have to buy them bc leasing them is the same price as buying them once you add the 12 month lease, you need the books for the whole program from first semester to last bc they all correlate to each class). I am looking into a loan however, they will not come in on time for the start of the semester. You need to be looking into a loan ASAP if you need it. The school financial aide is closed for two weeks so when they get back they need to approve the loan to move it forward, but it still will not be in time for the start of the semester. I need money ASAP so if I figure something out ill let you know as soon as possible. The total cost for the program which includes.. cost per semester, NCLEX PN fee, BON licensure fee, special tuition fee per semester, and the ATI NCLEX prep = $10,040.00

that does not include, books, medical equipment, scrubs, shoes, school supplies, and what ever else is needed.

btw, the first payment of the ATI prep is due by the first day of class and that is $602.00 You can call the nursing department when they get back and ask them about how much your tuition will cost, after that you will to connect to the business office to set up a payment plan. The federal student loan takes 4-6 weeks for approval, after that you must wait 30 days just to get the money, then it comes in two payments. Sallie Mae and Wells Fargo do students loans as well however they suck and take just as long to receive. Look into all your options ASAP :)

So roughly 3-4 thousand a semester. I'm really relying on fafsa to at least pay one semester total to make me feel a little better about that amount lol. I'll probably start looking into aces loans or even from the bank this week. & do we need any kind of scrubs as normal uniform for everyday of school. I know the one from the bookstore is for clinicals.

I went to St Philips today to turn in my blue card, and speak with financial aide. The aide office told me theres nothing they can do about the loan not coming in on time. So I'm trying to figure out just how to pay for my books, ATI prep ect.. Did you stop by the school?

I plan on going by the school today. & When will they start to register us for classes?

I just went to the school and no one could give me an estimate on how much I should take out in a loan so I think I might just have to pay the difference of the first semester out of pocket and wait until school actually starts to learn more about how many hours I will take and what the cost will be so I can take a loan out for the summer and fall semester.

did you get registered for your classes? Peggy in the front is giving me hell and she said she won't register us until friday, which means i will not get my FAFSA paid out and i need it. has she registered you?
