Contact the state BON in Florida and they'll tell you what to do.
The real estate market in Florida as a whole, and St. Pete is overpriced, but stable for the meantime have five or so years of home price inflation. This mean that with the inflated home prices comes inflated property taxes. Insurance is another thing that is killing us here. It's risen or people have been dropped. It's been passed on to renters.
Jobs are aplenty for RNs in the various hospitals, especially this time of year. Good luck.

Like tweety said St. Pete is way overpriced!! I live in Hernando county the market is not to high compared to what the hospitals are paying. My home here is $175k.built in the 90's 3300 sq. feet with 3 car garage pool pay 3k tax 3.5k Insurance. My friend has a home in St. Pete 145k 1500sq feet built in the 60's no garage, no pool pays 4.k tax I think he said 3k Insurance Also new grads start at $21. for the most part of FL.
note he bought his in 2001 for the price, I bought mine in 2003
Hope this helps

I live in St. Petersburg and was recently accepted into the nursing program at Galen Health Institute. They are a private college, and a bit more expensive. However, the NCLEX pass rate is one of the highest among their graduates. They have an LPN program as well as an RN program. Each of them are either: Full Time Days (M-F, 8:00 - 5:00) or Part Time Evenings (M-Th, 5:00 - 9:00 or 10:00). The day program is completed in 1 year and the evening program in 1 1/2 years. Most (all) of the other schools in the St. Pete & Tampa area have waiting lists and this was a major impact on my decision to go to Galen as well. I believe their is another school in Tampa named Erwin that has a shorter waiting list. I didn't want to bother with the drive.
Check out Galen at: http://www.galencollege.edu/Default.aspx?alias=www.galencollege.edu/tampa

St. Pete College has done away with their waiting list. It's now by competetive admission; a combination of pre-requisite GPA and number of co-requisite courses taken.
