Okay, so I'm still waiting on "the letter".....admittedly, not a long time though. So, I'm asking anyone else out there that is waiting on "the letter" from SPC for the fall semester to write to this thread when they get the letter so I know if/when they are sent out. I will be honest, I am trying not to stalk the admissions director, but am slowly losing my mind. Just got my work schedule for the month of June and I tell you, I don't know if I will make it that long. :uhoh3:

Hey what's up ?

are you currently in the nursing program @SPC ?

I go to SPC too I'm currently working on my prereqs....

I'm hearing all these things about how hard it is to get into the program...is it true ? What GPA do I need to get in ?

Yes it is true, last semester with the points system that they set up, you had to have at least a 3.8 with ALL prereqs done. Of course the GPA is based upon your pre-reqs that is.

Oh wow, that's frustrating. But another question would be, if you have let's say a 4.0 or 3.8 on your nursing pre-reqs, but you haven taken more classes let's say Hum 2 and Comp 2 which are NOT prereqs and they would bring your GPA down to 3.5 (overall) how does that work then ?

Do you also know about PTA programm or respiratory ? It is as competitive as nursing? (I'm a good student but want to look for back-up plans...I don't want to wait 100 yrs before I can get into nursing....)

Thanks!

Hi, I know nothing about their other programs. However, the GPA they go on is purely your gen eds...so as long as you have a 3.8/4.0 in pre-reqs...you're in good position for a spot. Good luck.

Hi NRS, I go to st pete too. did you get in yet? i still have to take a&p 2 and micro b4 i can apply

Um, not sure if you saw my other posts, but yeah I got in. I'm finishing in 3 weeks from this god foresaken pit hole of a school. Gosh if I had known the program was run by such elderly incompetence I would have waited a decade to get into any other school known to man. I hate SPC. Seriously, I'm not joking. I'm just happy I'm done.

omg i didnt realize your post was from two years ago! ahahhahahaha. too funny. YAYYYYYYYYYYYY you're almost done, that is so great!!!

Yeah, it's nice how we stick around this forum for a while so you can see some of us make it. In hindsight man I was freaking out over nothing. But nursing school sucks for real. Just happy it's over. Love the learning, hate the power struggles some instructors have with themselves and students. Anyhow, took my end of program exam today, the last true hurdle for me to finishing and I passed it without any issues, 97th percentile out of our group/and nationwide testing. It is a predictive test to assess the likelihood of your passing the nclex the first time attempted and my predictive was 98% likely I'll pass on the first attempt. Which is great. So I'll probably pick up a review book and just do a few questions a day to keep my mind sharp. Management should be a breeze and great learning opportunity.

Sounds like the Geezers did a good job with you, Good Job!!

St Pete's only problem to me would be buying expensive bullet proof clothing and body armor plates, ha-ha (nasty crime ridden city). Unfortunately, its in my list of alternatives though. If you have some XXL used bullet proof clothing not used now, let me know :yeah::yeah:

Hey NRS. ya i've heard they are into power struggles. was told to keep my mouth shut and just do the work IF i ever get in, to avoid drama.

what did u mean management will be easy? when can you take the nclex? good job and good luck by the way :)

Well I made it on the "alternate" list, i'll know in a month or less if I'm really in. it was my 1st time applying and I am NOW taking micro
