St. Paul's School of Nursing - Spring 2015

Published

Hey everyone, I'm new to the site.

I've recently taken the HESI at SPSON, I got an overall 91%. I'm planning to go to the evening classes if I get accepted. The next step is the interview with the President of the school? Anyone else applying to SPSON?

I thought Clinicals were like once or twice a week.

I heard somewhere that its 2 days a week. I don't know

We just got rid of a teacher last semester who was changing answers on her students exams. Some of those students who "failed" her class are retaking medsurg and peds with me so i beg to differ. Some faculty are rotten but thats with every school. But like she mentioned above just do your best and find a study method that works for you. Some students learn by reading the chapters. Me personally, I learn by doing Nclex questions and reading the rationale. I work full-time at a hospital as a patient care tech from mid-nights to 8 am 5 nights a week, plus classes full time with having clinicals in the bronx and in flushing so i try to find the best way to get stuff to stick with the least amount of effort. Try to stay disciplined and find a classmate or two to take this journey with you. Can't tell u how many times my classmates have come through for me and vice versa. Take all the help and tutoring u can get too!

Thats crazy How did the school find out ? Kudos to you on handling such a heavy load. my husband worked as a PCT while he was in nursing school so i know how tough it is. He's at Lenox Hill now. But anyway- it seems that doing the NCLEX questions are the best and safest bet to pass.

Thank you for the advice! But what a terrible teacher!

All the students were complaining. Granted, you change answers on the exam, but when you go over it and you KNOW you put down one answer and your scantron is given to you with another. Something is wrong! With St. Pauls, there is strength in numbers so when people complain they listen! Whenever it's time to elect your student council officials, make sure you pick people who will be a voice for your class. I'm on the council myself and it was our class who complained about how our skills lab exams were being executed and guess what? All the classes after mine do not have to worry about having skills lab exams. Ironically, the same teacher who got the boot over the exams was creating havoc in our skills lab. How are u suppose to learn how to administer injections or perform wound care when a teacher is constantly belittling you! So we got together and wrote a nice letter to the president. She was gone before the end of the semester.. Don't be afraid to voice your opinion, you pay good money to learn what u need to pass the NCLEX and if that requires getting your hands a little dirty then so be it! Do whatever u have to do to REACH THAT GRADUATION STAGE!

Thanks for all the advice. Its great to hear from actual students there.
