St. Paul's School of Nursing Disappointment

Hey everyone, I posted a few days ago about being really excited about applying to SPSON and achieving a 91% on the HESI. The next step is the interview with the President, but now, after doing some extensive research I am not excited at all. I will not be going to this school if I get accepted. I checked the NCLEX Pass rates for this school online and the pass rates have dropped dramatically from 2012 to 2013. It went from 80.9% (Queens Campus) to 58.6%. That is insane. What is going on with this school?!

I was going to attend regardless of some of it's bad reviews because the pass rates seemed close to decent, but as of lately their pass rates look like a total disaster. This has completely convinced me to go a different route. Unfortunately for me, my transcript is not a work of art so this was last hope of getting into an RN program. I'll have to go the LPN route for now.

Has anyone else applied to SPSON for the Spring 2015?

Paul's partnership is http://www.excelsior.edu/web/partners/saint -pauls and I also have to take back what I said about adelphi it states that diploma graduates must take and pass 24 credits from excelsior college.....this is the website RN to BSN | Nursing Programs - Long Island, NY

Apparently Hunter-Bellevue would also accept St. Paul graduates as long as they take and excelsior exam and pass. I don't know if they will accept you for sure but at least we'll have a chance.

Do you know any 4 year college schools that will accept SPSON when you finish the accosiates degree?

SPSON, where do I start. I graduated in December/January of 2015. what a horrible journey it was through that school. I would advise any one against it in a heart beat!! i started in september 2012, was on the right track, doing amazing in all my classes, something personal happened where i had to take a semester off (between my 3rd and 4th semesters), the director gave the go ahead, and when it was time to come back, he told me no!! i went through hell and back to get back in... i had finished 3 semesters without failing a single class, went straight through the summer taking micro and pharm to make sure i was on the right track, and he literally told me i couldn't come back. had to contact HQ which is education affiliates to get back in.. then they shipped me off to the staten island campus, which took me an hour and half one way. it was a house of horrors that place. the staten island campus i found to be not as bad... the director basically had it out for me and sent me out to staten island for a whole semester! anyways, did some research on the director and he had some lawsuits against him and had gotten fired from previous colleges, piece of work he is. long story short. SPSON sucks!! i absolutely adored my professors from the queens campus form my first 2 semesters. then professors started leaving and boom. they're all gone and its new teachers fresh out of college with absolutely no experience and you're on your own! my attitude is, if u can't get in anywhere else, i would absolutely tell u to go to SPSON and just make sure to get your work done and keep your head down. i took my last final a few days before christmas, sat for my nclex January 20th and passed! i was called an RN at graduation and it was amazing! but i also busted my behind and wouldn't give any credit to that god forsaken school! the day after i received my ticket to test i sat for the nclex. any who. I'm halfway through my BSN at chamberlain college of nursing. and SPSON is not accredited and has been talking about becoming accredited since before i started, so don't listen to their nonsense. they are affiliated with SUNY Delhi BSN program which is all online, they are affiliated with Chamberlain which is also all online. Chamberlain accepted 99 of my credits and i only had to take 10 classes to get my BSN. I also had an associates before starting at SPSON.

Basically, if you couldn't get into any other school besides SPSON, take it... but if you have other options, i would leave SPSON as an absolute last resort! they're expensive as hell, and act to care about their students when they just want your money. every semester i was there, clinicals didn't start until 4 weeks before the semester ended and then we had clinicals 3 days/week and going into the next semester because they couldn't get their act together. they threw med surg 2 and pediatrics into a huge 8 credit class and screwed u royally with that too. LOL is all i can say about that place. just so happy i made it out of there alive and am an RN now. good luck to u guys if u decide to go there!

PS: almost any BSN program will accept you as long as you passed your nclex. they will take all your NUR classes. as for electives, I'm not sure... i only took 1 elective at SPSON and it was accepted to Chamberlain...

NOGRN1991 thank you for posting i'm currently in search of a nursing program and have applied to SPSON and was very disappointed and didn't appreciate the way I was treated. I feel so much better now that I read your post I don't feel so bad after all

Hello,

Can anyone on here tell me what hours the evening program fall between? I work mon-fri 8-4 and am finding it IMPOSSIBLE to find a nursing school that allows for night/and or weekend programs.

classes start at 4:30. I would suggest you change your work schedule to leave at 3:30 depending on where you work and travel time to get to class on time.
