1st official job as a RN on a Med-Surg unit

Published

A big HELLO to all my fellow nurses!

I graduated with my Associates degree in Nursing last September and passed my NCLEX (on the 1st try) in March. Why such a long gap? Well I was blessed with having my 1st child and wanted to put 100% focus on her. Now that she's 4 months, I saw that it was fit for me to start looking for jobs. After a month of applying, I was fortunate to have landed a spot as a RN on a Med-Surg unit to work night shifts. I'm extremely excited and even more nervous about actually starting my career.

The issue.

I feel like because I've been out the loop for almost a year now, as soon as I start my shift my mind is going to go blank. Are there any advice that any of you can give me about my 1st day or just about how I'm feeling?! I would love to hear some feedback!

Thanks,

An Anxious RN
