St. Mary's University of Minnesota CRNA Interview

Nursing Students SRNA

App deadline was April 1st. Any one received a letter yet?

Specializes in NeuroTrauma ICU.

The interview at University of Miami went very well (at least I thought it did! :-) ) They did not ask me questions that were part of the essay, i.e. why anesthesia, future goals, etc... they did ask clinical questions such as what receptors levophed acts on, drug classifications, what is train-of-four, etc... They were very nice, nice campus, 100% passing rates on boards... They told me I would receive an answer whether I will be accepted to the Fall 2011 start (in August) by middle of next week. Kukana: You are not too old! LOL! Wow! 25 years of nursing experience....That's awesome. I was a banker in my previous life for 16 years. I did get into critical care right after graduation because I knew anesthesia was my path. Tahoe: good luck to you too! Good vibes to everyone!!!

ksjayhawks, good luck to you too!!! I am from Michigan and will relocate to MN if I get accepted. I've been an RN for 1 year and am working at the NeuroTrauma ICU at a Level 1 Trauma Center. I also applied at the University of Miami, and went for my interview 2 weeks ago. Have you applied anywhere else?

jojieblue, Thank you and good luck to you as well. Yes I applied at Union as well and have a couple others in mind (applications due in Nov.) just in case I dont get accepted to Union or St. Mary's. I also thought about Miami, but figured thats where everyone would want to be. So congrats on the interview, how was it? I have been an ICU nurse 7 years now working in the CTICU (level 1 Trauma center) The only thing I may have going for me is, of the 7 yrs 2 were in the Trauma/Surgical ICU during deployment to Iraq (Best experience ever!!) I am from Ks and my family and I would move to MN if accepted as well. Are you favoring any of the two programs you applied for? Good luck to you.

Jojieblue, I'm from Texas & will definitely relocate to MN as well if I get accepted (have to purchase lots of thick clothing to gear up for the long winter chilly months). I did apply to another school, Union University, but so far I haven't even heard from them whether all my paperwork had been received. I called the counselor, but she informed me that the department is still sorting all the applicants' paperwork & that she will email me later. The department is somewhat not as organized as Saint Mary's University (that's a bad sign). How did the interview come out in Florida? What are your chances? Hope you'll get accepted at least to one of them, sure do hope I will be as well. I've been a RN for 25 years, 5 1/2 years of critical care experience. Hopefully, I will not be told that I'm too old.......hahahahaha. Wish everyone the best!!!!!

KUKANA, Looks like we both had the same idea..lol. Good luck to you at both schools. I do not think anyone is "too old" to be schooled, if the drive to learn is there then then individual shall succeed to their own limitations. Good luck to you and keep us posted if you hear anything. I spoke with the admissions direct at union yesterday and she had to get back with me, but did notify me early March of completion of my application. Have you called them?

Finally heard from UU about my application file, all received/completed. UU will be sending the letters on 1st week of May. SMU is supposed to send the letters by this coming week. I'm too nervous right now:redbeathe.....yay or nay, but hoping for the best for all of us. Please post ASAP when you get your letters.

Tried to access my application status today, but it only displays that my ID is invalid. Highly likely, I'm one of the ones who are eliminated from the list of the applicants who will be receiving an invitation for interviews. I'm always optimistic, so I have to concentrate on sending my applications to other universities. Best wishes to everyone!!!!

kukana----keep it positive. you don't know anything yet. this is out of your

hands now. control what you can and apply to more schools if it makes

you feel better.

mine says invalid too. it probably just means that they are closed down for accepting new applicants. just let it go. and hey, if we get rejected outright what can you do?

I definitely put everything into the application and will move on mentally. there are more schools out there. its going to be okay no matter what!

Thanks for consoling me, I'm usually the one doing that for everyone else. You're definitely right, we have to keep our chins up & keep looking up, we'll reach our dreams someday. Let's keep each other posted.

i had a dream that I didn't get a letter. i just want to know soon, either way. How

do you know they will send letters out this week?

(moderator edit of name - please do not post names of individuals in your program per tos) (smu) called me yesterday & informed me not to be too concerned about the online tracking site, but to wait for the mail for the next few days. i've never been so nervous about anything in my life until now......god bless us all. i'll keep you posted as soon as i receive mine.

Mine says 'invalid ID' also...I agree with tahoe77, I think it just means all the applications are under review. I did speak with SMUMN the latter part of last week. She told me letters can be expected by first week of May, interviews for those invited in June, and final decisions in July. She also said that interviews are not in groups, but are scheduled individually. They can be done in person or over the phone. That is all I know... The waiting part is killing me. I supposed to know from U of Miami by the end of this week. I'm also waiting for Duke University (May 1 deadline) and U of Alabama-Birmingham (June 1 deadline). Good luck again to all of us!!!

I also spoke with SMU yesterday and was told all the aplicants who did not meet requirements should have recieved a letter allready, and the "YaY or NaY" letters should be recieved by the first of May. She did also explain to me that they recieved a record # of applicants this year, therefore the process has been prolonged.
