St. Mary's tech position(St. Louis)

Published

I have no medical experince except for my 48 hrs. in an ER when doing clinicals to get my EMT license. I've been lifeguarding for 5 years now and i'm ready to quit. I have my EMT-B cert. and am currently trying to find a ER tech job (I'd work on an ambulance but I don't have my driver's license yet. I get nervous when driving:(). I applied to St. Mary's(St. Louis)-it seems they are always needing ER techs for some reason... It's been 1 month and a few days since I applied and was just notified last friday that I am being considered for one of their positions that are open. I checked earlier and my status is still the same. I've applied to PCT jobs at St. John's a few weeks ago and have tried to talk to their HR dept. and can't get any info out of them on the status of my applications. I also applied to MOBAP and St. Lukes-they also need a bunch of PCTs right now-and was turned down. For a PCT job it said they would take either an EMT cert. or a CNA cert. but do they favor one over the other?

Also does anyone know anything about St. Mary's or their ER? I'm wondering why they are always hiring ER techs there?

Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Ok, so I have had my EMT-B since October of last year and have been applying to every ER tech opening I see. I have also applied for the St. Mary's postition. I even got the same email saying I was being considered, but nothing more so far. A couple months ago I actually had a short phone interview for one of the St. Mary's jobs and the recruiter said I would hear something one way or another the next week. But guess what? I heard nothing. I even emailed her a couple times and got no response. I really don't know what the deal is with them. I am starting to think that getting one of these jobs is like winning a lottery. A friend of mine just got hired as a PCT on the floor at St. John's in Washington, Mo and they told her that they got 1016 applictions for the last ER tech job they posted!

Anyway don't give up. I have applied for probably a hundred jobs, ER tech and for PCT on the floor and I finally got a call from Mo Bap and had an interview yesterday. As far as I know they don't require EMT or CNA though because they have a class that they put you through. I know that St. John's is that way to. I just think there are so many applicants for the jobs that it is just like playing the lottery.

Im not really sure why St. Marys ER needs alot of techs. But I used to work at St. Marys and had gotten pulled down there quite a few times actually. I hated it personally because I felt like I never knew what to do. and when it gets busy. It gets really crazy down there.

But good luck on your job search.
