If your visa has expired, does that mean you are now in the country illegally? If so, in this day and age of heightened awareness it could be a problem for you. I would find a lawyer familiar with immigration law and talk to him/her.
As far as I know it takes a SS# to do just about anything in the US. It is also considered a taxpayer ID number. Without it life is pretty restricted.

To all Recruiters and Fellow nurses..I need some advice
I am a student nurse in NYC i am graduating this June from a 2 yr college with a ASN in nursing. My problem is my visa expired and now i am out of status and i have no SS# and i wanted to know will i be able to take my state boards without a SS# and will i be able to be sponsered by a hospital even though my Visa has expired. please reply to this thread or email me at [email protected] your response would truly be helpful..Thank you Fellow nurses
