Springfield Hospital Center info

U.S.A. Maryland

Published

Hello, anyone know anything about Springfield hospital center? I have applied for an RN position there and feel it would be perfect because of the location. Just wondering if anyone has heard about what it may be like working there and what types of departments they have, new grad training, etc. I just graduated so I'm always curious about how it is for a new grad to learn at certain facilities. Psych is my chosen field so this is why I'm drawn to this facility.

Thanks for any tips!

Are you still wondering about this? Springfield is a state hospital hence most patients are long term. You can't get into a state hospital in Maryland just for crisis stabilization. In fact its very difficult to get a bed at any state hospital here. First priority are patients who are court ordered by being found not criminally responsible for a crime they committed. So lots of forensic patients. I have a friend that was an lpn there. I have heard as of late there have been a few assaults on staff, but according to my friend they are pretty sporadic. The pay and bennes are quite good working at a state hospital though.

Thanks for the info TerpGal! I was still interested in hearing about this facility. I was offered a position here and I think I may take it because I really want an opportunity in psych. I feel like I have a better understanding of how the admissions work and what to expect so thanks again for the info!
