Just curious to hear how everyone's app processing is going..
The campus is in the gables, which is not very cheap. The only wait students stay near there is with roommates sharing an apartment. There are cheaper places a little bit further if you want a decent area and there are others that are closer and not as expensive but not in the best area. It can be tricky. The worst part is that it does rain a lot here especially in the summer like right now. Anyone that lives in Miami will tell you you definitely need a car to get around. I wouldn't recommend a moped unless you are staying in campus housing or extremely close. Keep in mind even then, we have to drive to clinical locations. I would recommend try to get some roommates and stay as close as possible to Coral Gables like South Miami that way rent isn't as much, and try and get a car as well if you don't have. Public transportation in Miami sucks!! Even West Miami is closet to campus than I am and cheaper than my area but, again, you would need a car.
the problem is i don't have a car. i usually rely on atlanta's public transportation or my family's car when it's available. are shopping centers with groceries at least within walking distance in apartments near coral gables? for students rooming with people in gables, how much do you think rent is? i can get a nice 1 bedroom apartment for less than $700 where i live, but i guess that's but a dream down in miami lol
Oh I'm sure you can walk to groceries yea. A 1 bedroom apartment in the gables is probably more like $1700. That's just what I've seen mostly, even higher in the 2000s. It's kinda a fancy area lol which I cannot afford. I live in a 1 bedroom apartment in Fontainebleau area which is near Doral. I pay $1250 but I'm 8 miles away. And this is considered among the cheaper decent areas. You can also rent an efficiency! I guess without a car payment you can probably afford to pay more rent and be closer. But if you are looking to pay similar to where you live the only way is with roommates in the gables.
Hi,
I just got an acceptance email today! Did everyone get an email or just mainly a message through the CANE ID. I was rejected for summer 2016 and got the message via caneid so getting an email was a bit of a surprise? Desperately trying to remember my password to see if there is also a message on cane id. Does anyone know what the pre-immersion course consists of?
congrats!!!! how long did it take from the time your transcripts being verified to having your application viewed by the committee? i still see "This application is Incomplete" on canelink. i'm like, not trying to be hopeful so that if i do get a rejection, i'll just shrug my shoulders and be like "knew it" and move on. what's a pre-immersion course?
absn because you get to finish it faster!! are the prices comparable between the two? or is the absn cheaper because of the shorter time? for me, i just want to finish nursing school asaaaaaap and start working as a nurse already lol
for housing, i plan on looking for roommates outside of the gables area.

hi angier, i've been thinking about the best places to live if accepted. where do students typically live? where would you recommend that's cheap? would it be possible for me to drive a moped around to get to places? how often does it rain?
