Hey, just making a thread for people who have applied for the spring 2016 cohort at Palomar and/or Mira Costa. Has anyone heard back yet? I heard back from grossmont on the 16th of September but would really like to get into one of these schools since I live in north county.

Yay! I hope you get in. So are you going to orientation?

Me too!! Yes I am!

I got in!! Yay!!

Yay! Congratulations.

I was accepted into Spring 2016 at Palomar as well. Does anyone have the Syllabus yet for Nur 117 and 103? Just curious to know which chapters to read. I know the tentative sched has Units therein, but they don't seem to coordinate with the Units in the text. Was hoping someone could look at their syllabus for me to let me know which textbook to read. It is the day after Thanksgiving, but was hoping to use the holiday downtime to do a bit of reading.

Hello classmate,

I do not have the syllabus yet unfortunately. Sorry I'm not much help :/

I am in 1st semester right now and really focused on the math portion because half of the class failed that and you only have 2 shots and you are out of the program. They gave it to us I think 2nd week of class. You have to get 90% to pass. As for the reading part Potter Perry skin integrity, elimination pattern, basic nutrition are the few topics we covered the first week. There are tons of reading so it's smart to read ahead :)

Thank you so much for the tips! :)

Hello! I am so excited to meet you! Looks like we are in for quite a ride.

dsmom, I also asked you this question on the other thread but are there primary textbooks for 117 and 103Nurs? I am staring at a stack of books...None of the Units correspond with the first week reading units. I was trying to wait for the classes to be up on blackboard to read the syllabus but I'm thinking that will be too close to the start of class. The first day we go over Unit II - Vital Sign Theory and Unit I Safe Environment, Client Safety, Hand Washing and Infection Control. day 2, Body Mechanics Effects Immobility and Day 3, Skin Integrity - Assess, Hygiene, Variations.

Is this info in the fundamentals text book?

Hello,

I got accepted to palomar as well. I'm so excited!!!! Did anyone find out about the chapters? Have you guys started the dosage calculations?

I have started on the dosage calc book but it seems very easy so far. I had my meeting yesterday with the nursing department chair and after went to the library to look at the fall 2015 syllabus. There is a lot of information in there about chapters to read, vocabulary and videos to watch. I'd recommend going in and looking at it.
