Spring 2019 Lone Star Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

I've decided to make this page for anyone applying for the Spring 2019 ADN program at Lone Star CF/K. I'm so nervous and it's still kinda far away! Good luck!

Not too bad. Just very long.

Hello, I am also aiming for Fall 18 kingwood, going for the transition program. May 18 is the deadline and I took my hesi yesterday and got a cumulative if 84.4 not sure if that's good to get accepted.

I'm also applying for Spring 2019! I was accepted to Spring 2018 with a 7.58 but my BON letter did not come until 20 days after our deadline to upload all documents to Castlebranch. Even though school didn't start for 3 more weeks. SO, word of advice!! If you have anything you think could delay your progress, get it started now! Also stinks because now my HESI and one of A&P's will be expired so redoing those this month as well.

@ASHLEYRHERMANN. What is the bon letter and castlebranch? If you dont mind me asking.

And I am sorry for that. I pray and hope all goes well with next application period.

Cutie_pie87 good luck on your hesi. I took mine on May 2nd and made an overall average 84.4. I am applying for the transition for Fall 18 at kingwood. I am nervous about it because I still need the hep b titers they require with the application. Need to get that asap.

You are supposed to get an FBI background check done by the Board of Nursing prior to starting the nursing program. If you have a criminal record you are required to submit a petition for a declaratory order to the BON and hope that they clear you. I would do it now because this can take 6 months-2 years for them to clear you if you are submitting a declaratory order. After you have done this, you will receive a letter from the BON stating that you are cleared to take the NCLEX-RN after completing the program. Make sure you keep this letter because you must submit it 30-60 days before taking the NCLEX-RN.

@NessaLvn2RN89- the BON is what Crystal described. My stupid ex-husband wrote a hot check off of my empty bank account and I got to pay for it years later. I had to do the declaratory order and it took about 5 months. Castlebranch is the online platform you will use once accepted to upload all of your required documents such as titers, pay for your drug test etc. my BON letter was the only thing missing and I still got it before school started but I had to forfeit my spot. Then we found out we were finally pregnant! So if y'all see me looking tired in the program, it's because I'll have a 12 week old at home lol! If anyone has any questions about the process I'd be more than happy to answer. I know the semester I was previously accepted was very competitive but the group starting Fall 2018 had some significantly lower scores so it's just going to depend on our competitors!

Thanks!! I'm nervous as ever to take it lol. I think I should be good on all the shots required because I'm a surgical technologist and they require us to have those up to date at the hospital I work for. Best of luck with your admission into the transition program!
