Hillsborough Community College (HCC) - 2020 Spring Enrollment for Nursing

Published

Hello,

I know some of us were discouraged to find out that we didnt get in for Fall. The cut off was the highest theyve ever seen and some were shocked to find out their true pre-req GPA. We have another chance to accomplish our dream of becoming an RN and I am hopeful we will all get in for Spring. Historically it is an easier semester to get into, last GPA cutoff for 2019 Spring was a 3.381 so there is hope. If you dont mind posting GPA and TEAS and when youve submitted the app. Round 2, lets go!

Pre-req GPA- 3.514

TEAS-67

Havnt submitted just yet, but i will be soon!

@Tiese Scott I'm with you; I wanted to do the program at USF, but I can't afford to be without a full time job. Days just don't work for me ?‍♀️

I just called the staff assistant for the nursing department and asked if there was an ETA. She told me early October ? We might be in for a longer wait than I thought.

Wow smh, thanks for finding this out. Hopefully early October is next week for them

@yrosabal I completely agree with you there! She didn't seem too confident in her answer, though. She was like, "Well, applications were due on August 15th, so yeah, early October." ?

Thanks for the update you shared. For the past few days I've been feeling as though it would be a while before we found out. It looks like HCC has re-opened up their LPN Transition program, and I'm sure they have to complete the application process for them as well. Also, after reviewing the Nursing application again I noticed that both the Basic and Transition (LPN) programs would have their orientation around the same time. And keep in mind those who want to attend the LPN Transition Cohort in January their application period closed on September 15. It's all good.

Early October could be next week or it could be the 2nd week in October which will put us at 8 weeks. I included a snip of the last page of the application and it states the "evaluation period can take about 4 to 8 weeks after the program deadline" Eight weeks puts at October 10th which is still early October.

Well, hopefully October comes soon!! Lol, I’ll just try to keep myself busy

Does anyone know when they usually schedule orientation? I am going out of the country in November and this has been in the works for a while. Just want to be sure I don't miss it if I end up being selected.

They usually schedule it a month from acceptance letters from what I’ve seen. So most likely beginning to mid November. Hopefully next week we hear back !

Great ? Hopefully it's not for the week I'm gone.

Hey everyone!

I am also anxiously waiting for that email... have been checking about 5-10 times daily ?‍♀️ I applied to SPC, was denied, and have even submitted appeals to SPC, and then finally decided to apply to HCC instead! And now I think HCC's schedule sounds better for me anyways, so maybe the universe was guiding me here. But I still can't decide if I want days or evenings. On the application, I picked Dale Mabry Evening as my top choice and Dale Mabry Daytime as my second choice. But now I am totally second guessing that.

4.0 on pre reqs

88 on TEAS

(Obviously, my pre req gpa is good but my overall isn't that great. The reason I'm nervous about acceptance is because all of my transcripts from SPC and USF were in on time, but on Aug 14th I found out that HCC hadn't articulated any of my labs, so they were not showing on HCC's end but they WERE on the transcripts that SPC sent. So I went down there and they spoke to SPC and said that they made a note and I was fine. But still....... it was the middle of Sept. when I got an email saying that my transcripts were now correct.)

@Gladis Rubio Ibclc hey!!! I’ve been just as nervous and checking daily as well. Hopefully we’ll here by next week at the latest. Also I was wondering what helped you the most when preparing for the TEAS? If HCC doesn’t work out I’m considering Polk but I would need a higher teas score .

I believe you will get in based on your pre-reqs. I met with a nursing advisor prior to applying and have a 4.0 in my pre-reqs as well and she said I would definitely get in based on that so I’m hoping she’s right which means you would be in the same boat and your TEAS is better than mine but again I was told that the number doesn’t even matter and they don’t look at that, just that you passed it. Good luck! I think you will got it!
