Spring 2013 El Centro College ADN

U.S.A. Texas

Published

Hi everyone!

I was just wondering were there any others who were applying for Spring 2013. I was in nursing school many moons ago (2003 el centro), and have decided to take care of unfinished business. I'm super excited about the new points system. I actually hope to attend Northlake--we live in Coppell. I'll be taking HPRS 1204 this summer there as well. Is anyone else petitioning the five year limit on their science courses? I Have all the Science courses complete except HPRS so I'm petitioning since I majored in Biology (UTA). I'm also hoping they will take my Calculus I in lieu of college algerbra. Lots to do! Prayerful that God shows favor on us all!

Hi Kellikelli,

This is my first time applying and I will also be applying to the Methodist/El Centro nursing program. This program is open to employees, their family members and volunteers. I volunteer at the Dallas hospital. They only accept I think 20 students, so it can be even more competitive than the traditional El Centro. I do not know how many people will be apply for the Methodist program so I will wait to see what the decision is for the traditional. With the Methodist program you stay within the Methodist health system, (except for psych and peds) they pay your tuition but you have to work for them for 2 years after.

I also really have an interest in working at Parkland because it is a teaching hospital. I hope that you will get into the program.

hello,

I am a student looking forward to being accepted into El Centro Spring 2013 program. I have submitted my application with 24 points. I am a bit on the edge if I will be accepted. After seeing other posts with points higher than mine it makes me a bit uneasy, but I wish everyone the best of luck.

Any suggestions on what insurance is affordable and worth something just to get me by for this program? I currently have United Health Care but for the cost it seems to cover nothing.

Maunakea- I just got into the student volunteer program at Methodist- orientation was last week and my placement meeting is tomorrow. Any advice on which areas of the hospital I would or would not want? I'm also curious- so they have to hire you after graduation? Or you have to accept any position you're offered? Do you know how that works?

Hi RNNelson79,

I am not sure if you are able to pick the area you would like to volunteer. I was given my location based on what they needed filled.

They do hire you after graduation. You are obligated to work for them for 2 years or pay them back since they paid your tuition. I do not know how accepting a position offered works.

If I am accepted and do decide to go thru the Methodist/El Centro program I can give you more information.

Thanks!

Seems very competitive at Methodist. While there today I learned that one of the volunteers who the director loved didn't get in the first time, applied again and still didn't get in. Yikes. Also seems like ALL support courses must be done before applying. I was hoping to take speech and micro during the summer before beginning the nursing program. Now I've gotta fit all that in.

Maunakea- Maybe we'll run into each other. I'll only be one semester behind you if you start in the Spring =)

They set me up as an ambassador on Thursdays, too, just fyi.

Hi RNNelson79,

I am glad you got your assignment location. I hope to run into you when we are both at Methodist. I am doing my volunteer days on Wednesdays for the next 3 months. I normally do Thursdays. I think you will really like volunteering at Methodist. Everyone is super friendly and nice. Have a great day!

Hello everyone, I too have been following this forum for a while.

I applied in july for spring 2013 with 25 points.

THIS IS SO NERVE RACKING!

Do you guys think this is a fairly competitive score? I had 17 under the old system.

I think I am honestly getting a little anxiety over this. I keep thinking I forgot to sign the form on my application to turn in. I remember filling out the form, I just cant remember signing it. -_- It could honestly be me blowing up something I shouldn't be.

I think 25 makes for a strong application. Is anyone enrolled in HPRS 2 at el centro I lucked out and got in today I'm pretty darn excited. I need to take cpr this week and I'm done, I decided not to retake hesi my application will just have to do the way that it stands.

Question about the physical.... Did you get an eye exam also or did they just leave that part blank ?

Hi Yankees77,

I got an eye exam from the MA at my doctor's office when I went for my physical.
