I have a problem. My first job was at a local hospital and I was taught that when you pull your meds you pull all of you scheduled narcs as well. I worked there for 1.5 years and everyone did this. I didn't think a thing about it. A girl got mad at me because I was well liked. She went to her friend who was the floor director and got me into trouble. I was reported to the state board. I took a volentary drug test. My drug screen was negative. I had two meds in my locked cart that I need to find someone to waste with but no one could at that time. I even hired an attorney who took $3000.00 of my money just to tell me that the board did not have to answer to the law and I would have to take what they gave me. I did and I had to pay $1500.00 to a rehab center prove to them I was not an addict. Then pay $275.00 for renewal of my license and $250.00 for a fine to them. I am now on probation for 12mths. The board would not even listen to the people who said they would testify that the hospital does pull their meds in that manner. Anyway I have not worked since my last job fired me when they found out I was going to be put on probation. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can get a job with me being on probation? So far I have been looked at like I was scum or a trouble maker and incompitent. I promise I am not any of those bad things. But I am quilty of trusting too much. I have to get a job in order to fulfill my probation. I don't know how they expect me to do that since most places won't hire someone on probation. I am scared, embarrassed and I don't know where to turn.

probably but you know what that is something that will never happen to me again if I can help it. I have been told of nurses setting up people and purposely going into thier group of meds and taking them out, or purposley misscounting to say they took meds. I am real afraid of that. In alabama the nurses I have some into contact with 80% of them will set you up or get you fired in a heart beat just because they feel threatened by you. thanks for you input.

see that was what I did. I had three nurses that worked at the facility and two that had worked there that was coming to testify to the board that, that was the way the nurses pull the meds. The bon said they didn't want to hear it and would not give me a time to present them and my attorney said if they were under the law we could prove that this was done by all but they didn't have to let me prove nothing. Your right this is a bunch a bull pucky. No one or board should be exempt from the law. I think my attorney just took my $3000.00 and done as little as possible. Easy money from a desperate person. I had good teachers but I do wish they had told us stories like this so we would know. They told us the board was our friend (BULL MALARKY) they are out to get you. I also had to pay a fee to them just for putting me on probation. I have told several of my friends that are going into nursing school not to trust anyone. Especially the board to help them. If in doubt check it out. Even if not in doubt call just to make sure you don't get into trouble. CYOA because noone else will. I caused no harm to pt. nor did I cause harm to co-workers, I tested neg but still pd out the bucks and still got put on probation. The worst thing is I feel embarrassed, ashamed and now I trust even less. I wish the board had a board that would take suggestions and try to pass them. Like I got on probation for misshandling that is minor especially since it was not purposley done, there should be something like strike one, then 3 strikes your on probation. They know that people are being taught this way one of the board members is over the nursing staff at the hospital I worked. Now if it was major like causing harm to the pt. depending on the degree of harm there should be different ways to punish them. It is just a thought
