sponsorship to work in the US

Published

i am a registered nurse based in Kenya and am looking for sponsorship to work in the US. please help.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

I'm sorry but I doubt anyone here can help you. The employment situation in the US for nurses is very tight and many US citizens who are RNs don't have jobs. You might want to reconsider the US as a source of employment. Sorry.

Specializes in Med-Surg.

Completely agree. I am a Canadian nurse with experience, and even with TN status, which requires next to nothing from the employer (no sponsorship or anything) it was hard to find work. I finally managed, but took forever. I would re-consider the US as well if I was you. Sorry to be a Debbie-Downer.

Being positive is thing #1 in the process of practicing nursing as a foreign RN. After my ADN I worked 12 months being on OPT. Now, I am doing RN to BSN and I am working under CPT (12 months max.). After my graduation in December, I will use another 12 months OPT. My next step will be MSN prgram with CPT option. Then, 12 months OPT, and then I will see. I've been in US for 6 years. I am married (to my lovely F1 visa holder :) )and have two children (happy US citizens :) - 3 year-old and 1 year-old). It was not easy. It is not easy. It will be easier and, for sure, possible. Do not give up, pray a lot, give as much love to nursing as you can, and plan ahead. If you feel like there is no option for you, think what would you do for your patient with same problem as you have and you will find an option for you. Again, start with positive thinking. Best to you! MPLW.
