Hi there,
i am keen to obtain work in the UK as RN (Adult) specialising in ED. I will require sponsorship. I am aiming for at least a band six position in a specific hospital in the UK (my partner resides in the area).
Is it acceptable to send the HR department my CV, or shall I wait until a position is advertised?
How long does the whole recruitment process take if successful?
Thanks in advance,

You can try sending cv however getting band 6 with no NHS experience will probably be difficult. If looking for specific area then suggest getting what you can and then work towards where you want to go. Have you got registration sorted with NMC?
Thanks,
I have just returned to Australia in the last couple of days after sitting the OSCE (which I passed). I am just waiting for the NMC to complete a final check of my application. They said I would hear in 72 hours, which should be next week I hope when I receive my PIN.
I am in a frustrating position as I am 40 years of age and currently employed as nurse manager of a small ED and I would be earning less than half in a band 5 position.
If I was originally sponsored as a band 5, will I be able to apply for higher positions on what looks to be a restricted certificate of sponsorship. How restricted is that certificate of sponsorship? I don't want to be a band 5 for the lifetime of the sponsorship. Also, would I be sponsored by the specific hospital or by the NHS? That is, could I apply for other positions within NHS hospitals or am I restricted to that individual hospital?
Thanks in Advance
Sponsorship I believe is usually the hospital and nothing stopping you from moving up once in the UK working. You mention your partner is living in the UK. Are they on a visa? Could you not attach to their visa is you are classed as common-law?
Hi sliverdragon,
Thanks for your response and apologies for my late one.
My partner is English. Even if we married I would still be unable to work for 2 years unless sponsored by work. I have found that I can only be sponsored by that particular trust. Would there be more chance of positions being advertised coming into the summer months? It is a holiday destination during summer therefore more tourists placing demands on the one hospital located in the area. There was a position advertised which I could have applied for however I had not obtained my NMC registration by that stage and that was in December, nothing since. I am unclear as to how often demand is placed on EDs in the UK to recruit, especially coming into summer. The only other option I have is to take a 3 month contract with continental travel nurse (as I believe they are the only agency that can sponsor nursing staff over 31?) as a band 5 in London until a position becomes available in desired hospital.
Thoughts??
Regards
My understanding is if marrying a U.K. Citizen and settling in the U.K. With spousal visa you can work straight away. Have you spoken to someone experienced in UK immigration?
No, I haven't just own research on the internet.
Is sponsorship a relatively easy process for NHS trusts to undertake? We are not looking at getting hitched straight away and don't want to feel pushed into it, hence going down the sponsorship route..
