so my son had to do a project on the cell (he is 12), so i made up a funny story about the cells organelles to help him overcome his memorization process for what each organelle does! tell me whatcha think! i think it is cute!
you see, there is this guy named nucleo (nucleus)…and he is the big boss of the town of cell. he has all the info carried in his complex dna/rna codes that he invented. since he is so large and important, he had to stay within the cell walls of his fortress (nuclear envelope). so poor nucleo could only send his gangs of called the ribi’s (ribisomes) out to do all his work for the town.
he heard of this energetic lady called mito (mitochondria), and she owned the energy plant in town. he absolutely loved her, but they could never see each other. only messages sent to his friend gogi (golgi apparatis) by nucleo’s ribis via the rough or smooth route of the endoplasmic highway (endoplasmic reticulium).
now gogi was a cool dude, and was the shipping and receiving boss of the town..he had his own workforce to help him do whatever nucleo asked for.
he could send messages in codes to mito by the proxisomes (h2o2 oxidation) when they needed more power, send his lysome trucks to dispose garbage (digestion). he would employ his heavy duty vacuole trucks to carry chemicals needed for the towns general chemical needs, and even had a staff of spindles and centrioles to help with reproduction of the town to make it bigger!
now the town of cell is the foundation of all that lives, and it is good that all these folks get along under the instruction of the wonderful nucleo so that everything stays balanced and in homeostatis. it is when this town suffers, is when the towns around suffer drastically causing many different forms of diseases or conditions. pretty interesting considering the town of cell is microscopic…j .

What a great imagination you have! That was a great story, I wish I would have had that last semester when I was taking A&P 1 lol!! I hope your son does well in remembering all that he has to remember!!
Its kinda funny...but this is how I memorize things..I guess the more you play with the words..the better it sticks! I mean, when you have to figure out what rhymes with occipital...you remember it better! LOL!!!!!
Thanks! Yeah, I do have an imagination...it survived nursing school too! LOL!!!!!!!
"so here's a little story about IV's...and remember about those veins that you can see. They could be thick or thin or looking bold, but I will guarentee ya that they will roll!
So you use a little heat, I find wet is best, you focus on your target...no time to rest. You sneek up on that point now, you'll get the nack...insert that needle slowly and wait for flash back!
You may have to do some fishing, and that's alright, but don't forget the tourniquet, release that tight!
Get that saline on the run now and float it in, that water does the pushing..thick or thin!
Now once you get it in there, the tape is the thing. You bandage up that cath now, so your pump won't ring!
The patient is not happy, but what the hey...that stuff that flows on in them will save the day!"
LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL...awesome!!! Hopefully when i get accepted into the nursing program i will remember that rhyme!!
Feel free to ask..I have a million of them..and my hubby is even better! LOL!
