SPC RN vs. Keiser LPN???

Well, I know that if you want to go on and continue to get your BSN or Masters your credit hours at Keiser are not recognized and I believe not accepted. I was just going to ask how your meeting went at the school and I stumbled on this post! Just because they say the GPA to get in competitively is 3.4 doesn't mean that you won't be picked - you may be an alternate and get chosen right before the semester starts. I've heard great things about PTEC, and the bridge program is excellent to become an RN.

I've heard Keiser is losing their accreditation, I believe there was an article in the St. Pete Times about it. I was in the same dilemma as you and also met with a Keiser advisor, she gave me a lot of hope about being accepted into their program and I was seriously considering it as a last alternative. This was all until I heard about an article in the paper that said they were losing accreditation and were just money-hungry, which makes sense since it costs so damn much to go through their program.

My opinion is to stay away from them, there is definitely a more cheap, accredited option. Dont lose hope about SPC because I was just accepted with a 3.3 gpa through one of their hospital expansion programs! You just have to be patient and keep trying!

Did you get accepted thru the morton plant EAYL program? Or was it a different one? I probably will not get into RN with SPC on my grades alone, so I am going to shoot for the EAYL Morton Plant when they have their Job Fair. Keeping my fingers crossed!!!!!!

which program were you accepted thru? baycare or hca?

I was accepted through an HCA program, it's kind of like earn as you learn, but a little different.

i tried to find info on that program as well, but was unsuccessful :crying2: i eventually stumbled across the baycare one, so that is the route i'm taking now i guess. do they also pay you a stipend? how long is their contract for?

SPC mailed out a letter about an info session along with our rejection/acceptance letters. That's the only way I heard about the programs...I would try and contact SPC's healthcare center or contact an HR dept at Largo Med, Baypines, or Northside. A few of the HCA hospitals differ in what they offer incoming students. The one I was accepted to offers me 1000 for books, 2600 per yr for tuition reimbursement (if you work part-time while youre in school), and an RN position for 2 yrs after I graduate from SPC- which I have to accept. I hope you find some more info, I dont understand why they make it so hard! If you apply to SPC I'm sure they'll send out a letter with more information about certain programs.
