SPC Nursing Fall'15

I'm currently an evening student. On the schedule, you can have class from 1 pm - 11 pm. Usually nursing classes start at 3, the clinical start time is at the professors' discretion. Classes can last till 11 pm. We had classes Monday-Thursday 1st semester.

Nursing 3 is hard over the summer since the content is crammed into 10 weeks instead of 16. Classes will be Monday-Friday over the summer. However many students have made it through the summer semesters, so it's doable!

Thank you so much for your response! I'm still not sure if I plan on choosing day or evening. During a typical summer schedule, what would the quiz/test set-up be? Weekly or biweekly?

Level 3 In the summer is too intense I strongly encourage you to make sure that is what you want. This program takes up ALOT of time when it's not crunched into a summer semester so if you have god aweful amounts to study do it, as long as you don't mind having zero social life .

That's my advice to you. I know a lot who failed the summer course because it's time consuming

Mhasan, thank you for your response! I appreciate your input. I have been thinking about it a lot and I think I am going to stick with day classes. I do not want to get myself into a situation that I cannot handle. I also heard that level 3 focuses on medicine distribution and I do NOT want to mess up or miss any of that information! Again, I appreciate the input! Now I just have to painstakingly wait for July's acceptance (fingers crossed) and go from there. Do you recommend that I start getting my vaccinations or anything else done now? I'm trying not to jump the gun, but I'm excited and anxious.

Well, looks like my only option as of right now will be night classes. If anyone has input on Level III details I'd appreciate it! What is the primary focus of level III?

Looks like I will be there with you. I was suppose to be starting this May but something was missed. Their fault but they fixed it. So had to reapply for fall.

That happened to a friend of mine as well! They told her that a portion of her application was missing and/or incomplete. Doesn't make too much sense to me, but I hope those issues do not occur again. Good luck!

I'm currently in level 3 over the summer. The main focus is pediatrics and mental health. It is very condensed, but doable. You're in class 5 days a week, from 2-10 most nights.

I'm looking to apply for the spring semester at SPC (evenings, so I can graduate in 21 mos). I will be working at a public school in the fall and I'd really like to be able to finish out the rest of the school year (Jan-June) if I got into SPC, but after that I would not work through the program. Someone mentioned that evening classes are 1pm-11pm but the clinical start time is up to the professor, and I also saw on MySPC that the two clinical days are officially scheduled from 1pm-11. Since it would be a big difference asking to be let out of work at 12 vs 2, I guess I'm curious if anyone can give some feedback from night students on what that discretion really looks like. Does that mean most of the time the professors opt for 1pm, and some occasionally choose a later time? Or is 3pm generally standard? Being able to keep working for the first semester of school would make a pretty significant financial impact for me, as I don't qualify for much in the way of grants and I don't have another other financial support (spouse, parents, etc).

For evenings, the instructors I had for NUR 1 preferred starting at 3 pm for theory and on-campus clinical days. However my clinical instructor assigned us a 2 pm start time, so it is truly at the professors' discretion. Each of the three instructors in my class had separate start times amongst my classmates. If i were you I would contact an advisor to see what the program rules are on start times, they're very helpful toward prospective students.
