I'm looking at the pre-reqs/co-reqs for the Nursing programs at St. Pete College (Florida), and it doesn't look like they have Organic Chemistry listed. Is that right? I thought everyone had to have that one.
Anyone know for sure?

I'm not sure if this will help you. I go to Daytona State College, formerly DBCC, anyway we don't need to take Organic Chem for the ADN program. I transfered here from a program in another state that did require Organic Chemistry. I guess it depends on the school.

Yes... the program knows for sure. If their published material doesn't say you need to take organic chemistry then you don't need to.

I have never heard of a nursing school anywhere in Florida that requires organic chemistry.

SPC's associate in nursing program does not require chemistry at all. Of any kind. I happened to take it because I'm still considering getting my BSN at USF. I will be done with SPC's RN program in December and am now starting to evaluate the bachelor's programs now.
Cool, thanks for the replies. I have friends in other states (I'm a transplant to FL) and they've been required to take it, so I thought it was odd. Maybe it's a Florida thing. :)
Well, I'll tell you, for a bachelor's level maybe you'd need it. But personally I think chemistry should be required (just to understand pharmacological dynamics) but I don't know that organic chemistry should be required.

They may not require Chem. But they may require another class that may have Chem and a pre-req for that. I ran into that specific issue myself.
Azmomo.
I go there, I'm finishing their program. They don't require chem.
