I've been searching around for a post about SCSU's accelerated nursing program for this coming spring/summer and have not found one. Figured I would start one!
The deadline for the program was on January 1st. Did anyone apply?
Is there anyone who is currently in the program or recently graduated who could let us know how the program is? Is it a mixture of in person seminars and online classes, or just in person?
I hope we hear back soon!
Hi, it's possible to succeed in this program while you have two children and a husband. I think there are about 9 of us with kids. Here's the schedule as I remember it.
Summer C: no clinical, weekday classes
Fall: one 8 hour clinical, weekday classes (typical school pace)
Wintersession: 2 classes, no clinical
Spring: 2 days of classes, 2 days of clinicals.
Spring classes are Monday (8-4) and Tuesday (9-2) and two clinicals (one 8h and one 12 hour clinical in the first half as well as two 8h clinicals in the second 6 weeks). These clinicals can be W, R, F, Sat, or Sun.
Summer A: 5 weeks- 2 days of classes (8-530), 3 days of weekday clinicals (mix of 12 and 8h, changes by the week)
Summer B: 5 weeks- 2 classes and capstone- work the nurse preceptor's schedule;
Changes are made every year, but this is how it has been for our cohort.
Good luck to you!
Thanks so much for your response! It was very helpful to me. I'm applying for next years cohort. Do you have any advice regarding the essay portion? I have a pretty high gpa...3.85 and 3.9 for prerequisites. However the fact that the only take 36 students makes me so nervous. I really want to get into the program.

Hi, I know this is an old post so you're probably done with the program now! I was hoping you could provide me some examples of what your schedule with class and clinicals looked like? I have two small children and a husband who works quite long hours so I'm trying to see if I can swing the ACE program or have to do the traditional 2 years. Thank you in advance.
