Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU) Accelerated (ACE) Spring/Summer 2017

Published

I've been searching around for a post about SCSU's accelerated nursing program for this coming spring/summer and have not found one. Figured I would start one!

The deadline for the program was on January 1st. Did anyone apply?

Is there anyone who is currently in the program or recently graduated who could let us know how the program is? Is it a mixture of in person seminars and online classes, or just in person?

I hope we hear back soon!

Hi! I also applied for the 2017 cohort! I have been checking the mail every day hoping for an answer. Did you attend any of the info sessions? I attended the last one and the admin lady said the latest we would hear is April 1st. She said they often notify of decisions much sooner. I'm hoping we won't be waiting until April :nailbiting:

As far as the classes, I'm pretty sure all of them are going to be in person. There may be one online class that I saw in the sample of course schedules. It is all pretty much laid out on the SCSU ACE program website.

Thanks for your reply! I agree...I hope we're not waiting too much longer :-)

Thanks for the information on the class structure, I'll check out the website!

I'll be sure to post on here if anything comes in the mail :-)

Thanks for your post! I applied as well, hoping we'll know in March! I noticed on the ACE website that it says "to check on the status of your application, please use the Application Status Check system," but I haven't noticed any changes since my last transcript posted in December.

Good luck to everyone!

Hi,

I'm currently in the cohort right now. All the classes are in person. We're currently taking 3 classes in 2 days and have 20 hours of clinical and a ton of clinical work. It's a good program but can definitely be frustrating at times. The summer session really gets you ready for fall. Fall is 5 classes and 2 labs. The spring semester (what we're currently in) is when it gets really tough.

I found out mid march that I was accepted last year. I think a lot of it depends on how many people apply and how many Essays that have to read through. I heard that the essays are super important.

Hope I helped answer some questions.

Hi 2016ACE, thank you so much for your thorough response! Very helpful. I am still waiting to hear back (as I think everyone is) but I was wondering what you thought about commuting from Westport/Fairfield? Do you think that would be feasible with the class schedule and the clinicals?

I also applied for 2017 and I received my acceptance letter yesterday!!! So, for those of you that have not received anything yet, I assume you will get something in the mail today or tomorrow!! Fingers crossed for everyone! I hope this is a launching pad for us to connect as classmates!!!

Hi everyone, I also received my acceptance letter yesterday, hoping for good news for all!!!

I got my acceptance letter yesterday as well! So excited to start the journey!

Hi everyone! Congratulations to all those who were accepted. I am looking to apply to the ACE program for 2018. Is anyone comfortable/willing to share their cumulative & pre-req GPA's ? I am super nervous about getting in or not and trying to decide if I should retake a A&P. Thanks!

Hi there! When I went to the info session, it was stressed to us to do as well as we possibly could for any pre-reqs we still had to take...therefore it was my goal to get As in A&P I&II and chemistry, my remaining courses. I did achieve those grades, but also had two B- from courses taken over ten years ago for my original undergrad. So, my pre-req GPA ended at a 3.53, and I had a 3.71 cumulative GPA. I have also heard the essay is very important- I had family members read mine before I sent it in, and made it as personal as possible, while still fulfilling all requirements.

Hope this helps, and best wishes to you when you apply for next year!!

hello @2016ACE !!

How do you like the program so far? I have been accepted into southern and fairfield. Fairfield is such a long drive for me but i haven't heard anything about the southern program. Do you like it? how many times a week are clinicals and the hours too? Are the professors helpful? Do you need to maintain a certain grade point average during the semesters?
