South University RN-BSN Online Program!

Updated:   Published

Hi Everyone,

I am interested in this school, and was contacted but not so many people have gone through this school. I would like to know any info before I make my final decision. They are very convincing, CCNE accredited, checked it out myself, and also SACS. But everything just happened so fast, I'm not sure if it is a place of high quality education, because this is an investment. I do not want to regret it later on. They have decided to take on most of my ADN credits plus you're given 45 credits for your previous nursing degree.

I would appreciate any information. I am interested. No group projects, lots of paper writing ( which I expect because it's an online class, and also Bachelor level work), classes are 5 1/2 weeks long. I plan on taking 2 courses at a time. Based on how I do, I'll take 3 courses to finish by a year and a couple of months. There is a 6 credit course that you do in the end which involves research in the community, you can do it in your homestate which is 11 weeks long, which I'll take last, I may do it at a volunteering center.

Classes are $280/credit. Here in NY some of the schools that I've been looking into to finish my Bachelor's are $700+/credit LIU and Adelphi. Also I may have to do them in 2 or 2 1/2 years, leaving me $ 40,000 in debt.

Is South University a reputable nursing school. They also have campus program BS in Florida. But I a a bit skeptical about the school because of the fast turnover of the application process, or is this expected because it's an online program.

Thanks,

All I can teel you is that I have only taken two classes-computer lit and speech. They were pretty easy-no papers just some assignenments. Speech we recorded videos on our web cams-it was a pretty fun class.

I get online when ever I want to. You post your assignment questions by a certain date;for ex. assignment 1 is due by day 2, etc.

I will probably not be taking any more classes a s I ma transferring to another college. They JUSt decided last week that they won't accept my Excelsior college A & P and Micro! It really sucks as I have enjoyed the classes!

Shari

can you tell me what the classes are like? how many papers? any tests? about how many hours a week did you devote to the classes ( i want to do the 2 at a time)? did you find the classes easy or hard? any specific time that you had to be online for class, or can you do it anytime?

sorry for all the questions...

by the way, i just clarified with my admissions guy about the final class, which is the community one. he said there are no clinical or contact hours. a previous poster had mentioned that is was research in the community. so, which is is? am i going to be out in the community, like clinicals?
