South College Atlanta

Updated:   Published

Anyone currently attending or trying to get in to the Nursing program at South College Atlanta campus?

Hey! CONGRATS! I was worried when they gave us such short notice to take it. I scored (77.3%) so proficient category as well thankfully! I got my acceptance today as well! So many questions, especially what days we will be in class so that I can figure out my work schedule.

CONGRATS!

CONGRATS my love! See you on the 18th ?

Hi, I'm just trying to see who has attended South College in Atlanta, and how do you like it? Is it a good program? I'm recently going to Clayton State, but I just been giving the run around and not advised on what I need to. I know my GPA is part of it, but I been taking classes and passing them with As and Bs. It's just weird. So now I'm looking into South College

I'm attending now. Finishing up my 2nd quarter (there are 6) It's an accelerated program and you definitely feel it. There are pros and cons like I'm sure any school has.  Overall it's okay however I don't have another BSN program to compare it to. If you have specific questions I can try to answer them for you.

Thank you so much for your respond. I had actually registered for Spring term, but I told them I was not going to attend. I'm just not sure if I will be able to afford it honestly, then I know I have to take TEAS exam. I really don't like that exam..LOL. The school I attend now I am almost done with my Bachelor in Science, so I'm like I will just finish that. Then apply to accelerated Nursing program. I just want to get in someone program, because it been since 2016 I was trying to get in a program and or course I get the run around.

How is the program now? I just found out about the program. Are they helping you to pay for the program? I know their grading system is pretty harsh. Can you let me know how its going. Thank you.

I suggest that you apply again. Do two things.

#1 Change your admissions recruiter to Michelle Cardillo. I don't care what anyone tells you. Go with Michelle, she will fight for you. I tried to get in once before and it didn't happen. Then I changed to Michelle and the transcript and other departments still gave me a hard time. She fought for me and worked after hours to ensure that I got in. I didn't do any pre-requites there. Most administrators there where surprised to find out that I got in without first doing any classes there.

#2 Tell Michelle that Nicky Porter sent you. ? I'll see you there in the fall of 2020!

Hey congratulations on starting your journey. Question? Did you start the program how is it? Can you give me a little insight on how it works, lectures labs clinicals, grading entrance/exit exams? I would be extremely grateful if you can help a girl out. Thank you so much.

Thank you so much. I am set to graduate at the end of August this year. It has been very difficult and challenging to say the least. But it is Nursing school and accelerated at that. I did end up having to sit out a quarter (I would be graduating next week) and then retake Pharm II. The grading scale is pretty strict. Anything less than an 80 is pretty much failing. No grades are rounded. The TEAS is required for entrance. It is very competitive to get in so score as high as you can on the TEAS and make sure you GPA is good. Clinicals depend on which class and quarter you are in. We mainly use Peidmont Hospitals for Adult Health and Children's Healthcare of Atlanta for PEDs rotation. There are 6 total quarters. Let me know what questions you have and I'll try my best to answer them.

Oh wow yesss congratulations! But you did it. You should be proud of yourself because I know that was not easy. Thank you for answering those question this definitely helps with my decision making. Also, The grading scale is it all assignments accounted for or just exam grades?

Congrats that’s great! I am still trying to decide if I want to go there or not because they told me it’s not an accelerated  program. I will have my BS in May in Health Science.

I'm not sure why they said that's its not accelerated. But any BSN program less than 2 years is definitely accelerated. It's 6 quarters which when broken to semesters is 3 which is like a year and a half. It's fast paced and you don't get your regular Summer break but I preferred that because I just wanted to be finished. I had my Associates in Health Science when I started.

Yes I’m not sure why they said that either maybe they thought I didn’t have an degree but I thought I made that clear. So I will be apply for the next one then. I just need to take the TEAS well study for it. But I was thinking of applying to Clayton state but it’s no accelerated program. I really appreciate the information
