Soooo Nervous!!

Hey everyone! I recently got accepted into the Practical Nursing program and I start March 28th. Right now I am so nervous and anxious and a little nervous. I just want to excel and get through this program. I recently left a good paying job working for one of the "Big 3" car plants and accepted a job making 9 dollars less so that I can do the program. Also my son is leaving once school is out to stay with his father out of state so that I can focus more on my studies. So far I'm sacrificing a lot but I know in the end it will work out. I'm debating on if I should get a head start on the reading or just enjoy my time I have left to a life. Does anyone have tips on how to get prepared or overall how to remain successful in the program? Thanks in advance.

Congrats!!!

You can get a head start on "thinking like a nurse" with this book:

Critical Thinking in Nursing: A Practical Approach: 9780721682778: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com

Also Lear what your learning style is...also buy a NCLEX-PN review book with a breakdown of subjects to be prepared to learn how to answer application questions.

Keep on top of your assignments, seek out instructors if you don't understand and need clarity.

There will be a LOT of information in a small period of time...A&P is knowledge based; once you get into Fundamentals and beyond, apply the nursing process quickly to note taking an studying to be able to apply it during clinicals as well as during test taking.

Best wishes! I was a LPN for seven years, and I enjoyed it, as well as the advantage of that foundation when I went for my BSN, and it still helps me today as an RN.
