Hello
My name is Angela. I will be graduating this coming summer and I'm looking to move. Right now I live in Minnesota and I am really sick of the horrible winters. I'm looking at a few different states and one of them is Tennessee. I'm thinking about moving to the Nashville area, but I'm not limiting my self to any certain area at this time. I would appreciate any info that anyone has on the employment and house/apartment rental market. And if any hospitals in Tennessee offer loan forgiveness or sign on bonuses. I'm also planning on go back to finish my RN after some time off, so I would need to be close to a school that has a good RN program.

Hi ~
I've been looking at moving to Nashville myself, with Tampa being an alternative.
You might check out this website
http://www.realestatejournal.com/cityprofiles/
and enter the city you're interested in.
I've also used this site
http://www.bestplaces.net/html/city_compare.asp
to compare two cities in 30 categories.
And, of course, look up the local newspaper on the internet at
http://library.uncg.edu/news/
Good luck !

Angela,
A good area for you to check into is Middle TN. More or less between Clarksville and Nashville. The area has tons of hospitals. There are like 4 in Clarksville, atleast 1 in Ashland City, and an endless list of places in Nashville. Housing in the area isn't to bad price wise, things are pretty easy to get to, and there is Austin Pea State (APSU) in Clarksville that has an LPN- RN program and then in Nashville you have Vanderbelt University. Most of the hospitals around here also have programs to help you further your education also. Happy Hunting!!

I moved to east tn from up North 5 years ago. I will tell you one thing..The pay scale is much less. The cost of living is the same. I don't know why people think it is cheaper to live here. Actually electric, and phone are much more. I make much less here in Tn. I suppose no one does anything about it because they don't know any better. I became a nurse because it has always been my dream. The kitchen help in a restaurant I worked at make more than I do. It is sad but true. Check out pay scales first. Good things are less traffic, no pot holes, and less snow in winter. When my kids finish high school I will go back. Hope this helps.Good luck to you.
