Soon to be Med Surg Nurse!

Hello all! I recently graduated from an ADN program, and have a Med-Surg internship lined up that starts as soon as I have my license in my hot little hand. I'll get a 4-5 month orientation on 5 different units, and at the end of orientation I decide if I want to be a float or stay with one area.

I appreciate all the suggestions in the sticky at the top of this forum. I'm looking forward to being a Med-Surg nurse!

First - congrats in pasing your boards! That alone is a great accomplishment. Also, good luck on your med-surg internship. This is a great opportunity to learn the ropes in a very busy environment. It sounds like your employer has a good program for new grads. That is very important.

Once you are finished with your internship, I would recommend that you stay on the unit you were oriented to for the remainder of your 6 months (to finish up one year). Being in a familiar environment is far more comfortable and will help with learning more procedures as well as assisting to compliment your time management and organizational skills.

Good luck.
