I am going in this summer after I pass boards and I have a few questions about living in the Army.
Q. Is the 2LT pay enough for a family? - I have a wife and 4 kids. We have 2 car payments and so on. I'm worried I wont be able to pay my student loans with the monthly support. I always get told by the recruiter that I should have no problems but I want to hear it from someone who was there.

Did you not get the loan repayment option with your contract?
No, unfortunately I am in the ANCP which allows for a small bonus and a stipend while in school. So I didn't get the loan repayment.

i wish i could help you out, i also went ancp but was prior service and although im a 2nd LT i get paid for 10 yrs in service. we have 4 kids too, but my husband is active duty and we live on 2 incomes. i can tell you that before i came in, we lived off an E-6 pay and still had the 4 kids, 2 of which are teens and think they need everything. we live on base and had to really watch our money. i think you can do it, but some of it will depend on how much your bills really are. i have a car payment of about 200 while my co-worker who is a cpt has a car payment of 900 a month. BIG difference. you can tell exactly what you will make
$2555.70 base pay 2nd LT
$202 BAS (food)
$? on BAH if you live on post they pay it and then housing takes it for your rent. if you live off, then you of course keep it.
go to this web page http://perdiem.hqda.pentagon.mil/perdiem/ and click on basic allowance for housing, type in your zip of where your going and your rank and then look at the with dependdents rate.
then things you will have come right off the top are
SGLI - $29
family SGLI - $7
medicare, soc security and federal/state taxes.
hope this helps out and i am not just giving you info you already have.
