Someone who has uptodate knowledge about latex gloves, handwashing in units and or g?

Hi!

I am attending a workshop today about aseptic use of gloves: operating rooms gloves; And as I have understand, - using two pairs of gloves with diff. size and color is a relatively new procedure in surgery- Does anyone have a link or information about: handwashing-standard on the units, standard for using gloves both at or and in units with aseptic procedures with imunsuppresive patiensts?

The "new" standard of quality in our canser hospital is no longer handwashing with soap and water, but use of Sterisol (isopropanol 60 % with glycerin). You are supposed to wash your hands after visiting the bathroom. Help! Our hand must be full of contact dermatities or allergy, and create a stop of the standard skin-barriere?

What about using barriere cream under gloves for protecting ourselves? Does anyone use theese procedure?

we also have the sterisol. I like it. It does make your hands a little dry if you use it frequently. I usually wash my hands after a few uses of the sterisol, because it can get a little sticky. And of course i wash my hands before and after i go to the bathroom, eat, and anytime my gloves are noticably dirty.

Thank you for your answering. But what kind of unit do you work in? With a lot of invasive method, using aseptic procedures and gloves for only antiseptic work (not sterile) will create a lot of moistyness, and the skin has to react with contact dermatitis? Are you allowed to use any barriere cream as a basement from the beginning of your shift? Do you have any quality sheem/standard for handhygiene in your hospital?
