I posted a thread title Nursing Research/RN's Role. I know this sounds boring. If you think about it, it is not We need nurses to do research in our field to help overall patient outcomes improve. Research has been done in so many areas that have improved our standard of care. Please share your experience (in research) with me and others and consider responding to my previous post. thank you jamy

are you meaning that you need help with a homework assignment?
Yes.
I am taking this nursing research class and not too thrilled about it. However it was about $2000.00 for the course and can't afford to withdraw without credit. I posted a few questions under the title Nursing Research/The RN's Role and am looking for some response. Could just be simple short answers. Just need other RN's perspectives. Thank you

"If you think about it, it is not We need nurses to do research in our field to help overall patient outcomes improve. Research has been done in so many areas that have improved our standard of care. "
I have to say I do not agree that enough research has been done. We can always learn from statistics no matter how "boring".....really if you change your way of looking at it it can be "exciting'! We have the power to change nursing/health care. We have access to patient populations ....for example, when I worked for the VA system in the past, we were encouraged to do nursing research....we had access to 1500 patients where I worked...it was a golden opportunity that not many took. It takes extra time and work that not many are willing to do. That is our failure for not documenting in proper manner what we see happening every day.
I hope others respond to you and also I would like to know what specifically you need to know.....I am sure we can help get you pointed in the right direction.
I found the original post and placed it here for reference. I will answer your original questions.
1.What is your educational (associate degree, baccalaureate or masters), only RN's should reply.
associates is basic level with many college hours past that...premed and baccalaureate nursing level...lack only a few hours getting Bacc. degree.
2.What is your perspective on nurses doing research and what do you see as your role? Have you ever been involved in a research study, either the researcher or one of the persons collecting data?
I think I answered this in previous post. Nurses can very well write/do research in their own right.
I have not every personally been in a project.
3.Do you subscribe to any nursing research journals?
Yes, Nursing 2005...I have read it for years and found it to be the most helpful to keep up to date.
I have also had others over the years. ...Nursing management, and others.
What do you do with the information you read?
Keep up to date on current nursing meds, procedures, etc....read career ideas/suggestions, etc....take the tests in the magazine to sharpen my knowledge...do the articles and tests for CEUs to keep licenses current.
